Police make murder arrest, recover stolen car
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has arrested one person on suspicion of murder and also recovered a stolen vehicle during a series of search operations across the territory.
Police said officers conducted the searches as part of continuing investigations into recent gun crimes. The force did not disclose the locations searched, the identity of the person arrested or the murder investigation connected to the arrest.
“During these operations, one individual was arrested on suspicion of murder, one reported stolen vehicle was recovered, and several items of evidential value were seized by officers,” the Police Information Office stated on Wednesday, August 12.
The release did not describe the recovered vehicle and did not indicate when or where it had been reported stolen. Police also did not identify the other items seized or state whether officers had laid any charges against the arrested person.
The operation follows several shootings in the territory since July.
K’Moi Walters, 26, died after being shot in Huntums Ghut during the early hours of July 6. He was transported to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital, where he later died. His death was the territory’s first recorded homicide of 2026.
Police previously arrested two males, including a 17-year-old, during the Walters investigation. Both were subsequently released.
Businessman Kai De Castro was killed in a separate shooting in Brewers Bay on July 28. His death marked the territory’s second homicide of the year. Police later said investigators were pursuing multiple lines of inquiry in both killings.
Two people were also reportedly seriously injured during a daylight shooting at the Carrot Bay Festival Village on August 6. Police had not identified any suspects or announced any arrests immediately after that incident.
“Police enquiries are continuing, and further information will be provided as appropriate,” the RVIPF stated.

The police to release information just like that ? ( common sence would indicate that would be putting the criminals on guard or making them aware that might be linked to the case ) it takes time to put the pieces together/ whatever information you have that can help or be useful to any crime , do the right thing and ask to see the commissioner directly or ask to speak to him personally. as long as your safety isn’t at risk / because it is said that some of the police cannot be trusted .

The police is not as stupid as some of you label them to be. You can’t expect them to blab and give out information so the suspect can flee.
