The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) made a major drug bust in BVI waters yesterday, Saturday August 13.

In a brief press statement Sunday morning, the Information Unit of the RVIPF said the police recovered more than 400 kilograms of cocaine.

“While on routine patrol, officers of the RVIPF Marine Branch yesterday afternoon met a suspicious vessel on the north side of Cooper Island. The vessel was intercepted and subsequently searched,” the RVIPF said while detailing the circumstances of the bust.

It added: “[The police] uncovered was a small quantity of what is believed to be cocaine in the bow of the boat. A subsequent search of the vessel uncovered an even larger quantity estimated at over 400 kilograms.”

Two persons presently are in custody in relation to this incident, the police further said.

Drug bust after drug bust and yet there is another. Makes you wonder how much drugs actually make it on its way.

Clearly these drug smugglers believe they have relative safe passage in these parts otherwise we would not be reading or hearing of these frequent drug busts.

Kudos to the RVIPF for intercepting this large haul.

Why lock them up, when the police officers with the most significant drug haul are walking free amongst us.

  8. UK Navy says:

should assist the RBVIPF as the number of smugglers appears to be increasing.

  9. Popeye says:

Every boat entering our waters should be monitored and can quite easily though the cooperation of the US and UK satellite operations. It’s now possible to track the historical locations of every boat. Add to that the need to attach radar and cameras to every cell tower and then we can close the door to drugs.

  10. Customs says:

How come we never see Customs name in these drug busts at sea????

  11. Relieved says:

Customs of border security back in May.

  12. @UK Navy says:

The number of smugglers haven’t increased, the number of successful seizures have. Head coach not here to protect them, and the biggas in the drug game falling

That and the fact that both the UK and US watching us closely means we gonna see alot more, like when u shine a light in a rats nest.

  13. Tactic says:

So many busts, you’d think the cartel is just using them as a diversionary tactic
