Police release murder suspects

Police at the scene of the Stevens/Sweeney murder last month.

The two men who police arrested on suspicion of killing Michael Stevens and Clevaughn Sweeney have been released.

They have not been charged.

“Both men have been discharged pending further investigations,” police briefly said in a media release Friday morning.

In an earlier media release this week, police had said they arrested a 25-year-old man from West End and a 32-year-old man from Free Bottom in connection with the double homicide.

Law enforcers did not disclose their identities.

The double murder

Stevens and Sweeney were shot multiple times and killed in a drive-by shooting near Althea Scatliffe Primary in Road Town on February 10.

They were the first of three persons murdered in the territory since the start of the year.

The third victim is Trumayne Daway and three persons already have been charged for his murder.
