Police sergeant charged for drug possession with intent to supply

This article has been updated

A police sergeant in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has been charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

He is Officer Troy St Helen who has been suspended from duty.

The 39-year-old senior officer is to appear in Magistrate’s Court today, Friday, July 30.

St Helen had been interdicted from duty earlier this year following his suspected involvement in the January drug seizure.

He will be the third male charged in that operation which resulted in the seizure of more 200 kilos of cocaine.

Twenty-eight-year-old Shaun Massicott of East End was also charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply and being concerned with the supply of a controlled drug.

Devon Bedford of Harrigan Estate had been previously charged in the matter.

“During an operation on January 19 of this year in the Brandywine area, officers of the Force intercepted a rental vehicle,” the RVIPF said.

It added: “A search of that vehicle uncovered a large quantity of cocaine. A subsequent search of a second vehicle uncovered a smaller quantity of cocaine. A boat was seized as part of that operation.”

The Police are no longer sweeping corruption under the carpet, they are dealing with it unlike Customs, Immigration, and the Prison Service

We can’t be surprised that so many murders continue to be UNSOLVED. But, I still have hope that there are STILL GOOD police officers who want to DO the RIGHT thing and one day….the murders WILL be SOLVED, and the victims & their families will HAVE JUSTICE. I STILL think of Lovell,Trinity,Franklin, Glenn and ET..I’m praying for justice.

It is evident that the force is capable of policing itself. It didn’t take Scotland Yard, MI6 or a foreign agency or local agency to arrest and charge but his very own. Cheers RVIPF keep weeding out. It’s the bad ones making it tough for the majority good ones.

Bilal save us please. We need to investigate why all of the Governor’s portfolio are full of corruption and whether the top is involved. You can’t have people dying in prison. Prisoners including murderers being released on the streets to kill innocent civilians during Irma, police selling drugs, raping, stealing money and contraband and no investigations. Nobody on top being is held accountable. The Governor has to answer for this.

This comes as no surprise to me… Seems like many of these island police find themselves in certain police departments only to gain personal benefts through the association with criminals and being involved in criminal acts. Please Commissioner investigate and sift them out immediately.
