Police summoned after one-yr-old falls from three-storey building

A one-year-old boy is recovering after reportedly falling from a three-storey building, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

BVI News understands the child suffered a broken leg after the fall and had to be rushed to the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment. It’s unclear if he suffered additional injuries.

According to our sources, the child was at home with his father, who was preparing a meal while the toddler wandered to the apartment’s balcony. Moments later, the father heard a loud noise and reportedly rushed to the balcony, where he discovered that his son had fallen into the yard below.

The father is said to have immediately gone downstairs and picked up the child, who was reportedly attempting to get back to his feet. It’s understood that the baby began crying when his father started to examine his injuries.

That’s when he was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had sustained a broken leg. BVI News understands the child was kept under medical observation following the incident. However, it remains unclear whether he has since been discharged from the hospital.

Authorities are continuing inquiries into the matter.

It is unclear at this stage whether any charges or other legal action will be pursued against the child’s father as investigators assess the circumstances surrounding the fall.

The incident has sparked concern among residents and serves as a reminder of the importance of child safety measures, especially in homes with elevated balconies and other potential hazards.

Thank goodness the child was not more seriously hurt or worse. Why did the parent not make sure the balcony door was properly secure so the child could not get on the balcony unsupervised. Sorry to say, if they were outside of Tortola child protective services/ACS would have been all over the parent for child neglect. Anyway, this is Tortola, nothing is going to come of it. Remember when the baby was left in the hot car and the father went to work and the father claimed he forget and the baby died? Nothing came of that.

  2. Sorry says:

I blame the father and he should be charged with neglect. A 1 year old needs to be supervised at all time.when my child was 1 years old, I watched my child like a hawk. I f went into the bathroom to take a shower my child was made to sit on a little chair in the bathroom while I took my shower. I had a balcony but I made sure the door was closed and locked at all times, safety locks on cabinets, safety plugs in the electrical sockets. Better safe than sorry. Anyone with a 1 year old know you have to watch them like a hawk if they are walking. So glad it did not turn out worse for the child.

    • No one says:

Who are you to say it was neglect you can turn your head for one second and a child can be gone like the speed of lightning. You was not there to see if it was neglect. So instead of the negative talk find your knees and pray for them.

    Very sad, indeed!

Yet a majority of people in this country drive around with their kids unsecured in the cars, but think nothing of it! No enforcement, nothing. Life is fragile, NEVER GAMBLE WITH YORU CHILD’S LIFE!

try to keep your head up king, things happen and thank God it wasn’t worse . should be a good lesson learnt

  7. Legal issue says:

I wonder where the mother was. Some of the unfit fathers want custody of children to avoid paying child support, but they can’t or don’t have what it takes to care for children like a mother can.

THE LANDLADY/LORD SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT HAVING PROPER RAILINGS ON THE BALCONY OF HER/HIS APARTMENT, THUS ENDANGERING THE CHILD’S LIFE.
