Possible unstable weather this weekend as Kirk passes south
Residents are being warned that unstable weather conditions may affect the British Virgin Islands this weekend.
The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) issued that warning in its latest weather update on Friday.
While citing forecasts from the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services, the DDM said the BVI might experience heavy rainfall because of an ‘instability’ in the atmosphere as a result of Tropical Storm Kirk.
“Such conditions may warrant the issuing of flood advisories. Coastal flooding may [also] be possible on all coasts, especially on the northern shores,” the DDM said.
Sea bathers and small craft operators are asked to exercise caution as Kirk further deteriorates and passes south of the territory Friday evening into Saturday.
Winds are expected to be between 10 to 20 miles per hour.
“During the passing of Kirk wind gusts in excess of 25 mph to 35 mph may be experienced in squalls and thunderstorms. This may require the securing of loose objects and debris,” the DDM added.

As of 8AM Saturday TS Kirk has decayed into a tropical wave that is mostly south of St. Kitts. I think the BVI will have a nice sunny weekend now.
I knew we would have a sunny weekend. BVI DDM never predict weather right. I think they need to get a new source. Antigua meteorologists are hardly ever right. Not reliable at all. Just horrible at their jobs.
I think they need to change the seaweed they hang up outside to interpret the weather! LOL…
