Premier better positioned to ‘enhance’ local tourism

Premier and minister responsible for tourism Andrew Fahie said he is now in a better position to “enhance” the territory’s tourism product.

This improved position was attained during his visit to Miami for the 2019 Seatrade Global trade show between April 8 to 11.

“Equipped with this understanding, the BVI will be better positioned to enhance the tourism product, and take advantage of the vital training and career opportunities available for our people,” Premier Fahie said while reporting on his visit.

He continued: “I’m pleased to say that I will be working closely with my team and the cruise lines to address pre-existing challenges that were highlighted during our meetings. Our relevance and survival in this industry demands that continuous two-way communication is maintained with our cruise partners.  My administration will ensure that these relationships are effectively managed to maximize the benefits garnered.”

The tourism minister said he had productive meetings with six major cruise lines while at the event.

He led a delegation comprising Transportation, Works & Utilities Minister Kye Rymer, and Junior Tourism Minister Sheeren Flax-Charles. The delegation also included representatives from the BVI Tourist Board, BVI Ports Authority and Tortola Pier Park Ltd.

The only way to boost tourism in the BVI is to engage the Overspend on a massive contract, and plan that he will overspend it by 40%.

So, what are the details of increasing tourism because communications alone can not improve influx of people. What are the details? Are u planning to advertise more than just the sun and clear waters and actually put more activities in for people to do here while on their on vacation . Are you going plan a more creative business ideas for example like willy-T a bar on sea was a good tourist destination spot to visit. What fun adventures/ activities that is on the table…. also get the dolphine discovery back up and running??‍♀️… I mean a lot of other countries in the Caribbean are advertising more than their lovely beaches and sunshine. I think a meeting can be hold involving the public to spout some ideas on the topic.

Please do NOT get Dolphin Discovery back up and running. It is a very cruel way to keep highly intelligent creatures from their natural habitat, and unfortunately it was hardly unique – there are plenty of better equipped facilities to go see dolphins at and I am equally opposed to them
