Premier fires back at criticism that all his gov’t does are ‘photo ops’
Premier Andrew Fahie said he had reason to reprimand a young female resident recently after he and his government were accused of being in favour of photo-ops over substantive achievements.
The Premier explained that the incident happened a few weeks ago when the first cohort of persons were departing to the US Virgin Islands (USVI) to take advantage of the COVID-19 vaccination offer made by USVI Governor Albert Bryan Jr.
According to the Premier, who was debating his government’s recently passed Virgin Islands Investment Act in the House of Assembly, the resident told him: “All y’all like to do is take pictures and photo-op.”
While conceding to the resident that his administration favoured photo-ops, Fahie argued that they were done in an effort to keep his government’s positive achievements in the public sphere.
“I said: Miss, you’re correct. But it’s photo-ops of things that are being done because all you do is go to Facebook and post the things that you feel we’re doing bad. So, since you’re taking care of that side, we will take care of the side that’s going good,” the Premier told the House.
Criticism is their democratic right
The Premier insisted that it was a person’s democratic right to criticise his government if they view its actions in a negative way.
But he said the onus was on his government to continue to defend its own actions and not let persons get away with the criticising but not substantiating any claims they put forward.
“This government has done more public consultation on bills than any other government in a four-year period and [we’ve] only [been] here for two [years],” Premier Fahie boasted.

What happened to the $300 million recovery funds after Irma? What happened to the rebuild of our territory? What happened to our tourism industry? What happened to our jobs?
Premier needs to stop firing back and fire forward. Let’s get this territory moving forward ever and backward never( party slogan)…lol.

Half people are calling his a** out. He’s already campaigning for the next elections.
They never stopped campaigning since being elected.
Say what you want about Dr. Smith but we were never subjected to this level of “child like behaviour.”
I can not remember a single time the HOA was use as a forum to disclose this form of nonsense.
I was looking for a comparison and comment like this for a while. Exactly how I feel.
I imagine Doc would have simply smiled and asked the girl how her mother or aunty is doing. Something like that.
And the girl would have wound up smiling back. And Doc would not have mentioned any of this in HOA.

Andrew Fahie is a little boy that can’t take Criticism so he will keep answering all the Criticism because he feels like he should have the last say. Andrew, really you are not fit for this job so why don’t you quit while you are ahead.
