Premier, Governor both lack transparency, says Rosan
Political commentator Cindy Rosan has blasted Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley and Governor Daniel Pruce, accusing both men of fostering a culture of secrecy, dodging legitimate media questions, and treating journalists with disdain when pressed for answers on matters of public interest.
Speaking on her Morning Facts programme, Rosan argued that press conferences hosted by both leaders have become increasingly pointless because, in her view, officials routinely refuse to provide meaningful answers while expecting the media to simply accept prepared talking points.
“If you don’t want to answer the question, then send out a press statement,” Rosan said. “But to take time out of our day to sit and listen to you say what we know already … [that’s] wasting our time. Stop doing that.”
Her harshest criticism centred on the unwillingness of the elected government and the Governor’s Office to disclose the cost of several failed prosecutions, including cases stemming from the Commission of Inquiry era and other high-profile legal matters. Rosan said the public has repeatedly sought clarity on how much the territory is paying for outside legal counsel, particularly a King’s Counsel assisting the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), in cases that have reportedly been unsuccessful.
“Can anybody point out the national security threat to me because I’m totally lost.”
Rosan also criticised both the Premier and Governor for, in her view, failing to challenge the DPP’s explanation that legal or constitutional protections prevent disclosure. “It appears to me that neither the Premier nor the Governor was even willing to say to the DPP, ‘Can you point us to this legislation?’” she argued.
Beyond the legal cost issue, Rosan broadened her criticism to what she described as a wider pattern of opacity. She referenced Governor Pruce’s refusal to provide further details after overriding the Police Service Commission’s recommendation in the controversial appointment process involving former acting Police Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool, saying officials cannot invoke transparency while withholding key explanations.
“We’re not your children,” Rosan said. “We have a right to understand why you’re overlooking or overriding processes that are set up for good governance.” Rosan also accused leaders of making promises to provide information that never materialise.
“We ask the same question over and over. They’re going to bring the answers back. They’re going to send us the answers in emails. They never do,” she complained.
Concluding, Rosan said frustration in the territory is growing. “The BVI has had enough of both entities,” she declared.

Rosan is not a journalist!
Cindy, you are so right. I don’t understand this, Governor. And all these sets of idiots around here are saying is “he’s giving them rope to hang themselves”. They are not seeing the game, and he wants to extend his term.
It reminds me of two elections ago when the house was dissolved days before the election that Governor allowed a special house to be called to give people who were not qualified to vote the right to vote.
When it was alleged some of them were already voting. Instead of doing an investigation into fraud and charging people.
Yeah Natalio has not done well with an Open and Honest Policy of running the country. Sometime I wander if this is the same man who used to be in the streets protesting about the ills of the society.
We need better mental healthcare in the bvi
When You Get What You Didn’t Expect.
To continue to disrespect this most brilliant young lady Cody rosan is beyond un- virgin islands if there is such a word, unpatriotic because we criticized Myron a born virgin islander who could have instead been unproductive and there smoking drug and nothing to offer the BVI, but instead the young man avail himself of the educational opportunities afforded to all of us and put his hand to the plow of nation building, and guess what he is hated for that. This young lady Cindy is one a the most meticulous intelligent journalist or media person out there that can analyze situation, she is something like Myron giftedness to dissect a statement from opacity to something intelligible for the public to understand, that’s what Myron does in the HOA. Cindy keep up the good work because one day you may be the leader of many.
What happened to GBM? It used to be the place to go for breaking news and now they dont even run current events such as PLM announcement. They have become a publication soley focused on the 9 district rep and losing credibiility as they have become so obsessed with VDS (Vincent derangement syndrome) that they even blame him for the outage of electricity on VG.SMH
Come on GBM was never a real news outlet. She used it to go after her enemies and protect those she love
But remember everyone has their day Cindy time will come just now as kmar is real
