Premier looks to ‘establish stronger relationships’ at CARICOM meeting
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley departed for the Bahamas yesterday for the Caribbean Community’s (CARICOM) 44th Regular Meeting and said one of his objectives is to “establish stronger relationships” with other jurisdictions in the region.
Speaking on ZBVI Radio about his ongoing trip, Dr Wheatley said: “I’m a strong part of the Regional Solidarity Project and that includes the progress we’re making on things like agriculture from a regional perspective that we believe that the BVI would be able to benefit from. And of course, the region continues to defend the BVI in the international sphere as we keep our eye on what’s taking place with the United Kingdom and our relationship there.”
Meanwhile, a separate media release from the Premier’s office said the CARICOM Conference of Heads of Government meeting is being convened in Nassau, Bahamas from February 15 to February 17.
The Premier’s Office said heads of CARICOM will engage in ongoing strategic discussions on critical issues including regional food security, climate change and climate financing, and immigration and security.
They will also deliberate on the effective management of COVID-19 and other emergent public health concerns.
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has taken a small delegation comprising his Special Envoy and brother Benito Wheatley, as well as the Assistant Secretary of the International Affairs Secretariat, Dwynel Davis.
Deputy Premier Kye Rymer will serve as Acting Premier in Dr Wheatley’s absence.

What a waste of their time and our money. Until the BVI decides to become a full member so that we can export to the US and CARICOM countries “duty free” there isn’t anything worth spending our money for this “vacation” they can offer that wouldn’t have been available to all associated members.
Please stop this senseless spending and concentrate on fulfilling what you agreed to when forming a what is appearing to be anything but the Unity Government.

We NAH need them island people ( that’s Y we double tax their azzis ), we NAH the UK loan ( we GAH social security money ) and didn’t want the help from the UK royal navy even though it was FREE,) , because we GAH BARGES that was more better , ( they played a big role in the collecting and storing of the white LADY ,who was on a journey to the states ( it worked for a while , but it’s history now
