Premier, Skelton Cline denounce divisive political memes

One of the political memes that has been circulating in the local social media space.

The issue of disparaging political memes has long been a sore point in the BVI. Lately, however, the practice has drawn rebuke from Premier Andrew Fahie and government consultant, Claude Skelton Cline, who described them as divisive and vicious.

“I see that one went out on the former legislator and one went out on the current sitting Premier and his government,” Skelton Cline said.

The government consultant argued that the “vicious memes” were in bad taste and unkind.

“This is no time for us to be fighting each other. This is no time to have the metaphorical weapons pointing at each other. This is a time for us to fight together for greater autonomy in our country and ultimately, eminently for independence in this country,” he stated.

Premier Fahie also recently made light of the disruptive memes, noting that the artwork in the meme at least got his image correctly.

Just recently, Premier Fahie, spoke about the unprecedented level of disrespect in public discourse in the territory, noting that it was not reflective of what the BVI represents.

The issue of divisive memes had also caused a great deal of uproar during the last general election a few years ago.

Speaking directly to the persons behind the divisive means, Skelton Cline insisted it was an inappropriate time, asserting instead that it is time for persons in the territory to come together to use their intellect and wisdom towards fighting against what is taking place in the territory with the ongoing Commission of Inquiry.

Skelton Cline argued: “The empires of the world have a way of organising oppressed people against themselves.”

Just listen to the hypocritical nature of these people. The VIP were the ones doing nasty memes during the last elections. Deliberately telling lies through memes. Now people are being truthful using the same memes now they denounce it. I am sick and tired of people like these two.
And Claude, why are even with this man who told the COI that he don’t know you and that you move from party to party each election? Have you no shame?

At least they got him looking decent in the meme because that is not nearly how he look in real life. Sometimes when I see him I am ashamed that this is our Premier.

@to untidy – It’s because of enablers like you why he wouldn’t do any better. Instead of trying to defend him tell him honestly that he needs to do better with his appearance as a Premier. It is embarrassing. Look at the way he dressed to say good bye to the last governor. Are you saying that this is acceptable? It is people like you that cause them to bring shame on our country. Stop supporting nonsense.

There is nothing more disrespectful than constantly being untruthful to people especially grown folks. You expect people to act civil towards you when you continuously insult their intelligence by the things you do and say? We can see things for ourselves but here you come constantly with your silver tongue telling us that what we see is not what is happening. You don’t expect people to get tired of it? Every minute its some untruthfulness coming from your mouth. I don’t even want to hear let alone see you anymore. You crawl my blood.

CSC should not talk about unity. CSC switched political affiliation for his own financial gain. Now he and the Premier talk unity for the best welfare of this country. They talk about independence. How is that possible? What does the BVI produce or manufacture? What does the BVI export? BVI imports everything which is one reason food is awfully expensive. CSC and the Premier are the chiefs dividers. BV Islanders, people with different opinions and political parties will always have differences. The question here is what have these two- CSC and the Honourable Premier done for this country in the past 3 years? Do we want to continue living like this or do we all want a better life for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren?

    oppressed – adjective
subject to harsh and authoritarian treatment. The people of the BVI are being oppressed by too much corruption in the government.

Under investigation meaning – : being investigated : being looked into to try to find out the facts
The government and its cronies are under investigation.

Vote for these again, maybe a few will but majority of us wont, They cant account for tax payers money, all the Crazy decisons, the boards appointments, the barge issues, Did they tell us that they allegedly owe the barge and the barge owners ceased govt property, thats a rumor they need to clarify, let us know if its true, bad decisions have consequences,,, Too many bad decisions, almost seems like they dont have a clue of how to run a country..

    • This is where we will go wrong says:

This is where we will go wrong because it is thinking like this that will allow them to get voted back in and for the BVI people to continue to suffer.

He did well to keep us safe during the height of the pandemic to the BVI but that is ALL that he did. Everything else has been a debacle.

stop ignoring the whole picture for the corner speck, which is the speck he wants you to focus on!

  16. Unconventional leadership says:

I see the Premier is now making a subtle attempt to distance himself from CSC too little too late. Oh he was appointed to a board independent of me.

The very fact that he is on the public dime, to say the things he is saying even in a private capacity does not argue well to keep bashing the mother country and her representative with monotonous frequency. The very fact the you yourself Mr Premier was doing the same would give one the belief that this was a joint effort.

Case in point when the cindy lady was at the tourist board on the public dime and bashing the administration even in a private capacity she received a memo reminding her that her position did not argue well until she was finally removed.

I said it already under my posting name Joshua that CSC as an unelected person would almost single handedly bring down this government. CSC is by far the most unpopular person in the bvi. If even their is nothing wrong with his message, you were using the wrong messenger.

You said Mr Premier that you don’t read the blogs you should have been reading them. Any leader who don’t know what the people is saying will pay a price at the end. You are the most bible quoting leader of all time yet you seem to forget the quote of the most important person in the bible.

Jesus asked because He wanted to know. Who do men say that I am. You should have been concern with what the people were saying about CSC. Finally I invite you Hon bible quoting premier to read Dan 5:5, mene, mene, terkel parsin, the handwriting is on the wall.

    • @Unconventional Leadership says:

Well said. But do you really believe the Hon. Premier when he said he doesn’t read the blogs? You only have to listen to him speak to know that he does. In fact, his favourite saying these days is that 9 people blogging 9 times a day doesn’t make it 49 or is it 7 people blogging 7 times a day doesn’t make it 49? That would make more sense, so something along that line. He truly does believe, apparently, that he is loved and revered all over the BVI and he is doing a wonderful job. So it has to be the same 7 persons why he has negative blogs. Well, if that is the case, it is a really sad state of affairs indeed. I have not blogged for quite a while, but I can be number 7 if he insists. Jokey Government! I really thought they would try harder! Disappointing!
