Premier still in the dark on UK role in Fahie’s arrest

The BVI’s leader said he was still unsure of the role the United Kingdom played in the events leading up to the arrest of former Premier Andrew Fahie.

Despite the unfolding legal proceedings and public discourse surrounding Fahie’s trial and subsequent conviction, Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley confirmed that the UK has still not provided comprehensive details about its role in the investigation. “I haven’t had any briefings about that,” he stated.

Fahie was arrested on April 28, 2022, at a Miami airport on charges of drug smuggling and money laundering after a months-long undercover operation carried out in the BVI by the United States (US) Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

However, former Governor John Rankin repeatedly expressed surprise when questioned about the operation, even as he admitted being responsible for authorising foreign law enforcement operations in the territory.

When asked about the apparent contradiction, Dr Wheatley said he would leave it to the people to decide.

In the meantime, Premier Wheatley stressed the importance of open communication between the BVI and UK governments, particularly on important matters of national security. “We have National Security Council meetings from a constitutional standpoint where that information is shared,” the Premier explained. “But as it pertains to what the United Kingdom shares, and what they don’t want to share, I’ll leave it for them to to speak on.”

He contrasted Rankin’s approach by praising current governor Daniel Pruce for his openness and accessibility. The Premier stated: “I’ve been impressed with the type of relationship we’ve had thus far and the governor’s role in being very approachable, being someone I can speak to and discuss difficult issues with.”

The Premier said the relationship was off to a good start and expressed appreciation for Governor Pruce’s positive approach while noting that Overseas Territories Minister David Rutley has also been very constructive and helpful.

Good job UK! Next send the Navy to choke off the drug trade. Maybe the killing and lawlessness will cool down. I would prefer to know how the premier is going to take care of the infrastructure problems.

The UK in it’s best interest and that of the rest of the World should blockade these VI for an extended time.

Natalio just wanted to be Premier. You think he got time to study with Andrew. Remember Natalio used to be cussing off the UK with Andrew. As soon as Andrew got caught Natalio became a well behaved British subject extolling all the virtues of the same UK that he called every bad name in the book just months prior to Andrew’s arrest. All of them are a set of self serving ba**ards!

Best to stay away from the contamination and the obeah.I understand Showande absence on or near the scene and characters involved.
Even the jurors got pulled into a questionable unexplainable historical predicament.

Maybe Fahie so shame he requested no visitors. I am disappointed that Andrew did not issue a statement or send message to us,the People.
Interesting we never saw a photo of him not even his mugshot nor have I heard any first hand or otherwise account by those who visited or may have attended the trial. Nada..noteven a media photo by one of our local reporters..or a report on his
demeanor..not a ting..not even photo of family friend or foe.

that there was coordination between the U.K. and the U.S (DEA) to bring about the arrest and subsequent successful conviction of Head Coach.

These kinds of operations do not occur as happenstance. They require coordination, and approvals.

In my opinion, which I have expressed before, the US had head coach under watchful eye going back a decade or more when there were accusations of money laundering against him. Those accusations did not result in an arrest.

Fast forward to his becoming the Premier, and it became known to the Governor at that time that Head Coach was riding dirty.

A plot was subsequently hatched to put him where they have him today. Of course none of this could have happened if Head Coach was not riding dirty to begin.

All the denials from the governor are just that… Denials. They are not going to admit their involvement in this plot. Never. Don’t count on it.

What I see from this entire saga is that there is major distrust between the U.K. governors and the local government.

It’s a two way street of distrust.

There is distrust between the local government and the U.K. appointed governors and vice versa.

They don’t trust each other. The U.K. perhaps being the architect of the scheme to take down Head Coach was not going to let anyone in the local government know about their plan.

How could they? The moment they did that was the moment someone would have tipped off Head Coach and foil the plot.

And the governor was probably right in keeping that information close to the breast.

Bottom line: We are dealing with two important branches of the government who distrust each other.

They sit in meetings and look and smile in each others faces all the while knowing that if giving the opportunity they will stab each other in the back.

So come out of the darkness Mr. Premier, and understand what went down here. Pick sense out of nonsense as we would say.

If Gus had told you about Head Coach’s alleged activities, given your being Deputy and close to him, would you have kept quiet and let the sting unfold as planned?

I think the local government was kept in the dark because the feeling was that they could not be trusted with that information, some of you were probably compromised, and if given wind of the operation, would have blanked up the plan. It was that simple imo.

Jaspert, even prior tohis stepping on BVI soil ,it was evident that he knew the then Premier was a snake .Hence the bad blood between him and Coach but said coach rather then pretend a Lil humility was full force cause he was seasoned a long tome and had no sense of reality..convinced with his dirty hand and the Senagalese was in control and his followers in D1 they too knew or suspected but greed was their motivator to relect ..they are no less guilty than Coach.

In my opinion the investigation continues, not yet wrapped up will never be ..trust is gone and frankly plenty to be suspicious about lots continue unanswered and happenings creating doubts and suspicion. Nothing to be said or revealed by the UK an ongoing saga within the elected Gov and members of the population.

      • @annoymous says:

I agree with your assertion that Jaspert probably knew what the plan was before he even got off the plane for the first time.

One could speculate he came here on a mission. Noticed once he announced there was criminality involving government officials up to the highest level and sat that COI in motion, and allegedly other investigations began, he tailed @$$ out of here and passed the button onto Duncan.

His job was done. At that point, it was up to the other guy to mom up under the pretense of good governance. Unfortunately, Head Coach opened the door wide enough for all of this to happen.

He imo damaged the country with his illicit activities and sat this country back.

Why would the Governor tell the premier of the BVI what investigations are taking place in the BVI involving members of the government? That would be foolish. BVI is riddled with corruption at all levels. Best thing would be to take over the BVI and run it from London. Send in experts to fix the state of affairs and restore some trust in public intuitions.

When it was published in the International Media some years back that Coach was suspected in money laundering, these island,a gateway to the US andthe world became a suspect and a viable threat nationwide. In addition Coach himself while NDP was in office, repeatedly pronounced to the U K,and the World that these VI were involved in all crimes imaginable. He made requests abd pleadings publicly for the UK to investigate.
What a joke..the UK knew as well as
locals, knew he was the culprit pointing
fingers in an effort to sway attention away from him and his buddies
    incrimes..drugs,moneylaundering,human
trafficking..No sooner he was relected he arranged direct roundtrip flights to DR to
    expedite and trim down extra
    involvements.
Knee deep in Treason and everything in the

  11. Jane says:

Gus Jaspert was dispatched from London with a mission to disrupt the whole drug transhipment business operating in BVI. You only need consider his career history [from Wikipedia]:

He then spent two years at HM Treasury as part of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit, followed by three years at the Home Office as Head of Drugs and Alcohol and Head of Policing. From 2012 to 2014 he worked at 10 Downing Street as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, David Cameron, after which he spent a year studying at the Royal College of Defence Studies, an institution which grooms public servants who “have the potential to reach the highest ranks”.[4] He then spent two years in the Cabinet Office as Director of Security and Intelligence, National Security Secretariat, before taking up appointment as Governor of the British Virgin Islands.

What disrupted his mission was the immediate devastation of IrMaria Hurricanes which hit just a few weeks into his posting. He lacked diplomatic experience and managed to fall into a trap of being accused of racism due to some poorly judged comments on reparations. This further derailed his mission and he ultimately was recalled to London when his personal credibility had been impacted. His mission was always about getting corrupt politicians out of the cocaine business.

No surprises there. He in the dark about most everything. Doesn’t even seem to know he lives in a Territory of the UK surrounded by people who like it that way.

  14. er says:

“managed to fall into a trap of being accused of racism due to”

Due to his childish actions & insensitivity! That is the nicest form of racism these days ignorance. I can firmly say he was ignorant towards black people.

You do not start a COI on Martin Luther King Jr day and act as if it doesnt matter to people of color world wide because its a US holiday. Sir could not wait 1 day?

Do remember when Andrew was arrested the COI report came at the same time. coincidence?

As someone who expected more from both of them they were both childish. Both scheming and I find it to be detestable.

Where is the proof that Andrew had a history of drug dealing?

I do not believe Andrew was involved in any regular drug dealing other than his sting which was carefully tailored to suit him.

When he pissed Guss off Gus said he had knowledge of high level drug dealing with a smirk. Id bet Andrew didn’t even know it was him being painted red. That is when they started fighting.

What about all the other non-political & POPULAR dealers huh huh??? It was not Andrew running boats late at night. Cmon.

He wouldnt be so desperate for cash and $80k in debt to a spiritual medium if that was him. That’s pocket change to a real drug lord.

In between all of this there is the $300 million dollar loan guarantee the UK was forcing on the BVI. Financial servitude.

Now after all of this bickering our democracy is in shambles. At least we are not weighted by an extra $300 million in debt.

Both of them are snakes. Gus knows he is a snake & probably proud of it, James Bond lookin self.

Andrew is a snake for being greedy and not a biblical man after all. Proverbs 23:1–3

“When you sit to eat with a ruler, you shall surely observe what is before you, 2. and you shall put a knife to your throat if you have a big appetite. 3. Do not desire his delicacies, for it is food of deception. ”

You will vomit up the morsels that you have eaten… He didnt heed that part.

He could have been famous on his own and make millions on his own doing motivational speaking.

Remember people arent giving for free and all that drugs money a portion belongs to the UK/US government that prints the money and lets their criminal informants run rampant to get people to trust them.

If a cartel wanted to move drugs they would do it themself. Those mysterious romanians we can ask what they were doing here illegally but no one is going to bring such stupidity to the premier except the cops.

Where do people think the money comes from?

Hmm the people with $300million to loan to a territory, or the people with billions sent to Ukraine, while people are homeless and crime spirals… shout out Los Angeles!

Now we have sanctions offices to help fight a war we have no business in, and they are talking about conscripting UK citizens in the event of a wider war. The hubris to think Ukraine can beat Russia might be ww3 unfolding before us.

Please stop playing with the people of the VI. Our ancestors have been through the worst a human can do to another.

You can not convince us of purity in an institution (royalty) that would not apologize at all for slavery. The king of the Netherlands did it! Their prime minister apologized in the congo, but where does the UK stand?

Stuck in their old ways. That is why I call them slave masters, because their authority has yet to revoke their own slave master title.

We see where the UK stands on slavery.

You are no saints coming on with your false narrative about why he was seen as a racist. I used to love the BBC till it became a joke fill with propaganda to paint a picture. If they didnt screw Africa so badly id be moving, if its not jihadist over there its students getting kidnapped.

Europe is the garden everywhere else is the jungle by design. BVI too peaceful & wealthy. The drug war is calculated chaos. They know prohibition fuels crime.
