Premier, Walwyn not the best duo to represent BVI, says commentator
Talk show host Claude Skelton Cline has expressed concern that Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley and Opposition Leader Myron Walwyn are not in a position to work collaboratively for the good of the territory.
“It is clear to me that the Premier and Leader of the Opposition are at complete odds, and the reason why that should matter to us right now is because we are getting ready to send a team to the UK to debate the constitution, and the Premier and Opposition Leader should be part of that,” Skelton Cline explained. “I am too discerning to not see that the nature of their relationship and their pursuits will not make a bad stew.”
He added: “I’m speaking to both of them and particularly the Opposition Leader. When you have two people in the highest offices in the country who are supposed to speak on our behalf, how are they going to work together if they don’t agree?”
The outspoken clergyman went further, stating that the public should not allow both leaders to jointly represent the territory “in their current state.”
Another political critic, Bishop John Cline, had previously accused Walwyn of badgering the Premier, saying he should retire the harsh style he uses when engaging the territory’s leader in the House of Assembly.
However, some sections of society have welcomed Walwyn’s fervour, saying he is holding the Wheatley administration accountable and bringing important issues to light for the benefit of the public.

Imagine. Representing the BVI with two opposed democratically elected leaders. What a thing.
What does that even mean? Because one is holding the other accountable they are democratically opposed? Throughout the history of our legislative council the opposition leader and the Premier held each other accountable. All of a sudden it is a problem now? You all can’t say that Myron is incompetent and can’t lead the BVI properly so you coming with all sorts of stories that make no sense. When Fraser and Andrew were opposition leaders they did their jobs. They were the ones doing more badgering than anything else while CSC was I. The background cheering on his head coach.
Myron is the most sensible one in the House of Assembly. We need him in the room. Wasn’t Myron the same one some months ago breaking down those ridiculous COI bills and showing the government all the errors in them? CSC make me sick to my stomach.
.. is all i think when i see CSC quoted articles.
I wonder if CSC has any real interest in going to heaven. Hon. Walwyn is doing the real job of the leader of the opposition which is to hold the government accountable for their actions. That was not being done before. CSC is still salty over Myron replacing his uncle Ronnie as Leader of the Opposition. CSC supported Andrew Fahie when he was the leader of the opposition and Dr. Smith was the Premier. He has conveniently forgotten how Andrew used to have Dr. Smith? But that was ok. Only now because Hon. Wheatley is on the receiving end it’s a problem. CSC need to go kick rocks. He is a biased, unprincipled , pompous windbag. I guess his do nothing uncle and Hon. Wheatley would have been better together. Gimme a break. Hon. Wheatley ran circles around Ronnie. He can’t do that with Myron.
If we are expecting those two pastors to lead us to God we will all end up in hell. Hon. Skelton is CSC nephew and Bishop Cline’s best friend. They had no issues with Myron before he became leader of the opposition. It was this very CSC who told Marlon publicly he should the Alliance. Bishop Cline cursed the government until he ran out of words. Wasn’t it him who went down behind the admin complex to stop the backhoe works that the Premier had ordered to be done. Do you all remember his video and his behaviour until the backhoe man threatened to run him over? He went on like a mad man.
Fast forward: Myron replaces Ronnie as leader of the opposition all of a sudden Bishop Cline of all persons who harassed Ralph O’Neal, harassed Dr. Smith until he had to fire him as head of the BVIHSA and harassed Natalio Wheatley now saying Myron must stop badgering the Premier. This is laughable. All because Myron replaced their dear friend and family member. Myron is doing a far better job than Ronnie ever could. These two people care only about their interest.
Keep the pressure on Walwyn. Don’t study those two bias people.
Since when is the opposition and the government supposed to be on the same page? What nonsense am I hearing? Walwyn being in that seat really driving these two men crazy.
My God, to think that you believe that you and your Uncle should be held up as the moral compass of our islands, is staggering! You, yourself, are an agenda driven selfish person, who’s only goal is to manipulate whatever you can to benefit your own self-serving agenda. Your fake ‘ I love my country’ $hit don’t fly with a bulk of the populus here. You, your family, and close associates are equally as bad as those you find yourself criticizing!
BVI NEWS – For the love of all that remains in this Country that is good and well, please stop posting this charlatan’s commentary!
Dahh! Moomoo Claude get some senses instead a indigenous entitlement ideology, Myron is way qualified to go discuss constitutional legal matter in UK than natalio, and at that table it’s the white UK colonial power will be doing the badgering, trying to use their semantics gymnastics ability to elongate colonialism in a subtle and pernicious way, and there is where Myron comes in to save our skin with his achievement in law, and of course the attorney general and other law advisers is required. Just pure jealousy cline have, because natalio was forced upon the people from start, he hasn’t make his way as a level headed leader, the Vybz Kartel quarter million USD and other party and now bank of Asia is clear to see natalio incapacity to be finance minister and leader
Wasn’t something supoposed to happen to CSC in regards to his fraudulent contracts, as revealed by the COI? Still waiting…..
CSC – the jack-in-the-box came out the box again. Hahaha.
Next. CSC has no credibility with anything. Take back the money to the treasury that you got without working for it. As to pastor Ram all I will say is May God be with you.
I for walwyn going we need somebody with sense there to represent us in that room.
HOW THE HELL AYO COULD SEND AWAY CAINE AND ABEL TO REPRESENT THE BVI?
You sound so stupid
Tall Boy always bad talking the BVI and carrying news to the Governor.
He will never fight for locals only island people
Myron has done more for locals and for this country than Natalio ever has or would do. Myron is born here. Natalio is an American. What’s your point? Natalio in government and everybody including you catching yuh tail. You just too shame to admit it.
Ayo play stupid and send Natalio without Myron to negotiate a new constitution. From observing the HOA there is none more qualified than Myron to be on that team. Play stupid.
Whatever the fake pastor suggests then please do the opposite!
My boys and I endorse this message. Who cares if ‘Lando fired me? Who cares that I have raped and pillaged this country for my own benefits? We will be back in power with the old guards and some new ones (Wiglock, Scream Queen, Solar/Coast Guard guy and plenty Lez-more!).
We is a strong team – team NDP/VIP remix part deux! Can I get an Amen!!
I believe that if an agenda item comes up in the UK that is favorable to the BVI that it would be fully supported by Walwyn. Likewise, if an agenda item comes up that is unfavorable to the BVI I believe it would be vigorously opposed by Walwyn.
Frankly, the over-reach may very well come from Wheatley and his appetite for independence.
You were ontrack until your very last sentence.
Independence,no matter the short comings of the state in that regards is not a woeful idea.
So stop critising a word and begin fielding ideas of food growth and sustainability, improvedtake home pay, about erasing the greedy practices of business.
When business increase their pices exponentially without reason, it is called business. When someon who cannot afford food and takes a piece, that is called thief.
Independence,no matter the short comings of the state in that regards is not a woeful idea.
It is important to read over before posting. What you typed there make sense to you???
That, the leader of the Opposition, though he threw hundreds of educators and general staff way back financially, while they were all looking to the NDP for a woefully needed salary increase, they, their needs and suffering were completely neglected for at least twelve years.
It was that political miscalculation that triggered the famous political cleansing of the entire NDP from power, and deservedly so.
However and for its worth, the Hon. Mr. Walwyn is undoubtedly one of the most capable and astute minds in the political arena today.
Moreover it has become evident that he has grown politically, his heart seems matured humanly and politically. Fast forward, he appears forgiven by many currently.
More, no matter the differences between men, they can be resolved with intention for the greater salvation of the masses.
To suggest otherwise, or that there could be no unity between the leader and the Premier is to stoke the old divide and divisive rule order that keeps Black people divided and hating and fighting each other.
Additionally, such thinking and posts highlights the never accomplishing anything model of good for each other due of a dilapidated, un-evolved mentality, void of a sense of unity, learned centuries ago.
Last, we must grow up and get beyond those mental constructs and intellectual deficiencies. We must begin seeing and encouraging the good, potentialities and contributory assets in all of our local and other people.
As, the reverses of those good human qualities is antithetical to, and have no correlative effects on Virgin Islanders human existence. As, such was lived and experienced by many of the un-deserving folk.
May unity and good will for our entire local born people, no matter the birthplace of their parents, finally evolve into a normal practice in our hometown, the African Virgin Islands.
Consequently, if Melena Trump, an immigrant can became a note worthy citizen of her current country of residence, then to should someone who was born and raised right here on this rock. How evil to think otherwise!
Finally, haters will hate. Many will and do dislike truths. He who does not know should learn, as life for all could be much improved if all lived for the improvement of the greater masses through love for self and others.
Myron is smart and talented but not strategic. Making a move so quickly with 2 of the weakest candidates was not a smart move. Mather is sorely overrated and Turnbull has confusion every where he goes. I am not making this up, the facts are there. Mather was a Teacher and head of YEP for over 20yrs. YEP has not grown from what it started out as, it’s remained the same over the years. Mather is no more equipped than the Premier and I also agree that the Premier is not doing the best at the moment. The problem with BVI politics is that we are focused on who we like or dislike personally rather than competence.
Mr. Wheatley is American, but Myron born here, I guess that doesn’t give Myron no right to be here, no wonder why, things ain’t going get better!!
Be Aware:
Wheatley is a BVIslander by definition.
Walwyn is an Antiguan,by definition.
Nevertheless my impression is that Walwyn is genuinely more naturally and academically intelligent than Wheatley. His common sense is on point and sharp as is his maturity and professionalism.
He also, demonstrably cares more ..genuinely more sincere about his love for these VI and the welfare of the country it’s people..and most especially the academic future of the children of these VI.
Play stupid and send weaklings to the UK negotiating table and watch all your rights, freedoms, finances and political accomplishments disappear.
People state their opinions as facts and have no clue abouy the difference. Anyway many of us are thinking locally and not globally. Globally we must be united while we can disagree locally.
You guys fall for Claude’s bait every single time! He talks s**t because he knows it will be a headline the next day. You guys beg for him to shut up but still giving him all the attention in the world.
Send me, send me, send me please!! I did an interview on BBC ( the radio station) not the pipe, though that’s the r better bbc….
Send me!
It is important to know God. Political Parties come and go.
Anybody who tunes in to watch/ listen to house of assembly proceedings regularly should be able to understand why myron should be there. He the only one in there capable of going through legislation and understandimg it right away and can immediately point out areas of concern. Yall really want the premier to go by himself to go rant about un charter and his grandfather and whatever else he always going on about!?
I sorry as much as I want to forgive NDP cause VIP doing a lot. I JUST CAN’T GET OVER HOW MUCH I suffered with a low salary and years of no increment!! That hit me too hard I just can’t believe how they watch us suffer with the low ass salaries.. I just can’t get over it yrt..we fired them for that, Vip came and they delivered im sorry I will have to pray next election it’s all so confusing now.
To @Ev – What you said there was a bunch of baloney and you know it. YEP has done way more for the youths of the territory than you and your party affiliates combined. Andrew dumbed down education and was thrown in jail for his deceptive sneaky conduct. Mather has done more for youths than your jealous, hate filled, self-serving ideology and clique. YEP seems to have gotten to you so why don’t you go and try doing something positive for the country instead. Don’t worry about Mitch and Mather. They along with Walwyn have you guys scared shirtless.
