Price Findlay appointed 14th Chief Justice of ECSC
Her Ladyship the Honourable Madam Margaret Price-Findlay has been appointed the 14th Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC), marking a leadership transition for the regional court that serves six independent states and three British Overseas Territories, including the BVI.
The ECSC announced that His Majesty King Charles III appointed Price Findlay by letters patent, with her appointment taking effect on April 9, 2026. The court said she assumes the office after what it described as a distinguished legal and judicial career across the Eastern Caribbean.
According to the ECSC, Price Findlay’s career has been “defined by exemplary service, sound jurisprudence, and an unwavering commitment to justice across the Eastern Caribbean sub-region”.
The ECSC said the appointment comes at a time when regional courts continue to play a central role in administering justice and upholding the rule of law throughout the Eastern Caribbean.
“This appointment marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of judicial excellence, regional cooperation, and the reinforcement of the rule of law in the Eastern Caribbean,” the court stated.
The release further noted that Price-Findlay’s elevation to the office reflected her longstanding service to the judiciary and the wider region.
“Her Ladyship’s ascension to the office of Chief Justice underscores her exceptional contributions to the judiciary and her steadfast dedication to justice and regional service,” the ECSC stated.
The court also expressed confidence in her leadership, stating that it believes the ECSC “will continue to exemplify the highest standards of judicial excellence and innovation” under her tenure.
The ECSC, headquartered in Saint Lucia, oversees the administration of justice across its member jurisdictions through the High Court and Court of Appeal. The Chief Justice serves as the head of the judiciary and is responsible for the overall administration of the court system throughout the Eastern Caribbean.
