Resident gets new home under govt’s housing programme

Within four months of having works started on his property, Michael Anthony has now received the keys to his newly-built home.

Anthony now stands as one of the first beneficiary’s government’s Housing Recovery Assistance Programme which was designed to help homeowners rebuild after the September 2017 hurricanes.

Social Development Minister Carvin Malone and Seventh District Representative Dr Natalio Wheatley handed over the keys on May 14.

“Malone thanked the housing team for their continued efforts in addressing the housing needs of persons and explained that the team continues to work even during this time of restructuring and adapting to the current COVID-19 pandemic,” a May 18 media release from the Ministry of Social Development said.

Winston Penn Construction had conduct of the project.

Back in February, Malone announced that some 200 residents would benefit from the programme.
