Rosan says calls growing for her to enter politics

Political activist and media owner Cindy Rosan says more and more people are urging her to step into representational politics.
Speaking on the Too Inquisitive podcast, Rosan said the calls have been intensifying since the last election, with residents reaching out daily to encourage her to run for office.
“Since the last election, but now, as things continue to deteriorate in the BVI, I’ve been having the conversation almost every single day now — three, four, five, six times a day, messages, calls. ‘Are you going to think about it?’ ‘I think you should,’” Rosan said.
She reminded listeners that she had initially announced plans to contest the 2023 general elections during her annual International Women’s Day event in March 2022. But she later withdrew those intentions after then-Premier Andrew Fahie was arrested in Miami, the Commission of Inquiry (COI) report was released, and tensions escalated with the UK.
“At that point, I felt like my position of advocacy, keeping the government’s foot to the fire, keeping the people informed, and supporting was more important at that time,” Rosan explained. “I thought that would have been too much for me, I would have been out of my league and I couldn’t make any changes or differences in that moment.”
Rosan, who has frequently clashed with elected leaders over governance issues, has long positioned herself as one of the most outspoken voices holding politicians accountable. Her activism has sometimes created public friction with government officials, including sharp exchanges on matters of transparency and public trust.
She said her decisions are guided by what she believes is best for the territory, even when it comes at a personal cost.
“A lot of the time, I think about the country before myself, before my children … it’s the thing that is our legacy and our future. It’s like a business and trying to do the best for your business, because you know what the benefits or the success of the business will bring for you,” Rosan said.
While she did not confirm whether she would run in the next elections, Rosan noted that the question is being raised more frequently, leaving the door open to a possible political bid.

Cindy has proven her detractors wrong more than once. Her reporting on the Asia Bank affair was steady, factual, and free of the noise that too often clouds public discourse. She relied on evidence, not emotion; on principle, not personality. And that speaks volumes.

Now, with this new stamp of legitimacy, we are seeing a different Cindy — more deliberate, more reflective, more seasoned in her engagement with the issues that matter. And that maturity, that tempering of passion with purpose, gives her a genuine chance to win hearts — and yes, votes.
But let me also say this: governing is not campaigning. The art of governance is the art of compromise. You will not get everything you want. You will not change everything overnight. The task before any true leader is to identify the issues that are non-negotiable — the ones that define your purpose — and pursue them with clarity and conviction, while working collaboratively with Cabinet to achieve steady, sensible progress on the rest.
On many levels Cindy is great. She notices things and calls out the corruption. I believe she would not turn to corruption in power.
The problem is she is not a leader that people will follow. She is divisive. She’s more like, Wiggo, and the wanna be Bishop and now Politician Cline,and the Corrupt Cline in chief. They are all cut from the same divisive cloth. At least Cindy has a good heart and fights for the people of the VI.
None of them should not be allowed anywhere near the HOA. We saw the havoc the last time oh big Yellow one was in there.
What the VI needs is a break from old thinking and Cindy will not lead us to that unfortunately.
We need Cindy doing what she is doing. She should keep digging deeper into the corruption in our society and then set about getting results in the courts.
We have seen with Mather who showed such promise, how the HOA and political power corrupts good minded people.
I dont always agree with you but your reasoning is always sound. You are on point we dont need the divisive politics of the past and that why I believe that Cindy has evolved. We have not seen the more impulsive acts lately and in fact her tone is much more measured. As with all novices there is a learning curve to navigate and politics is one of those vocations that a large part is learning on the job.

For a long time, these islands have desperately needed someone sufficiently courageous to speak out without fear and favours of family.
But those that dare to speak out against injustices, are labelled undesirable persons and a menace to the public good. As was stated by one of the island’s Chief Ministers 35 years ago: We have a way of dealing with troublemakers!

Hence, the Virgin Islands need genuine non-corruptible and clean minds of unfalturing polititcal hygeine.
Today, more so than just a smoke screen masquarading as “courageous,” the territory needs women and men who are honest; who are not seeking riches from the government cofferes; who are genuinely non-corruptible; and who possess minds of unfalturing polititcal hygeine.
The territory has seen what greedy self enriching governance looks like from and by the current elected in your face officials.
The retired seniors, due to inflation and the greedy cost of every thing, are now reading and seeing the heartless and don’t care philosophy and political practices of their political representatives.
Their suffering and lackf monetary resources are staggering to unbearable. et the so called see noot, hear not and care not.
Sir Stoutt and others from that generation may have been bad, as they were, but, this current bunch is off the chart with blatant self enriching policies and philosophies.
It can only be hoped now that a clean and trust worthy bunch will run and get elected next election.
She would be ideal championing the Dingos female workers plying their wares o. The streets in the shadows.

Many people would like to see her stand in the hope that she might shut up when only 4 people voted for her.

Being a loudspeaker or a mouth champion even if it is for the people don’t make a good politician or elected person. Campaigning and yelling on the mic is one thing but actual executing the job of a legislator and leader is something else. We constantly keep voting for popular people who can’t do the job of moving projects along and developing the country in a parliamentarian way. There are rules and process and systems to follow. Compromises have to made. Understanding finance and economics and budgeting. Inspiring civil servants. Being able to respectfully represent the country internationally and articulate speaking. During election cycle we only see who is popular or who is with our preferred political party. We do not consider who can actually do the job after they are elected.
