The Rotary Family of the British Virgin Islands and the Social Security Board (SSB) recently partnered to donate $50,000 to the Family Support Network (FSN).

A joint media release said the funds which were issued to the FSN were geared towards aiding needy residents with food supplies, prior to the start of 14-day territory-wide curfew.

Governor Augustus Jaspert said he was delighted that the SSB and Rotary Family were able to join forces to support residents facing hardships throughout the BVI.

“I know that Rotarians are committed to action and have shown this time and time again in coming together to support those who need it. This was another great example and I am extremely grateful to all the local Rotary Clubs and Rotarians who have supported this effort,” Governor Jaspert stated.

District Governor of Rotary District 7020 Mrs Delma Maduro, in the meantime thanked the SSB for jumping on board with the initiative which will go a long way towards positively impacting various communities.

She said” “The needs of the numerous families have touched the hearts of Rotarians in the BVI. Even though this is a challenging time for everyone in the BVI and we recognize that many in our community may be unable to contribute at this time, our BVI Rotary Family is determined to assist to the extent that we can. We are indeed grateful to the BVI SSB for their generous support to Rotary in this manner”.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the SSB Antonette Skelton shared similar sentiments to Governor Jaspert and Maduro.

“Our own Chairman Mr. Ian Smith has been an active and long-standing member of the Rotary Family. I applaud the Family Support Network for their courage and huge efforts in assisting those in need during this difficult time,” Skelton said.

The BVI Rotary Family is comprised of three Rotary Clubs, two Rotaract Clubs, two Interact Clubs and three Early Act Clubs.
