Roughly 23 truckers down to participate in BVI’s first-ever Truck Show

Roughly 23 truckers are getting set to showcase their trucks at the first-ever truck show being organised by the BVI Motor Sports Association (BVIMSA).

Public Relations Officer for the BVIMSA Janice Braithwaite-Edwards said the objectives of the December 14 event is three-fold.

“It is a show that will showcase trucks in the British Virgin Islands and also some skill tests of the guys that drive the truck in terms of how you manoeuvre your truck etcetera,” Braithwaite-Edwards told BVI News.

“We know that most young children are fascinated by the trucks and BVIMSA carries out family activities. So it will be for families to come out for their youngsters to get a close-up hands-on experience with the trucks and the drivers,” she added.

The event will be held at the Festival Grounds from 10 am to 6 pm and Brathwaite-Edwards said residents can expect a good show.

“It should be a nice showing. We will also be showcasing other entities, such as soapboxes, cars, at this truck show. We felt that there are enough young men in the Territory who have trucks and they never get the opportunity to showcase their trucks except when they are actually driving or taking loads,” she noted.

There will be prizes to be won; some of which are monetary, Brathwaite-Edwards further said.

In the meantime, motorists are being forewarned of the temporary lane closure, closest to the festival grounds to facilitate the show.
