RT being beautified | Fewer than $100K spent to restore Noel Lloyd Park

In the next few weeks, residents are expected to see a more aesthetically pleasing capital as a beautification drive for Road Town is currently underway.

Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communication and Works Jeremy Hodge told BVI News on Wednesday that as part of that drive, the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park that sustained considerable damage during the 2017 hurricanes will also be fully restored.

The park’s renovation started late last year, and except for energy-saving lights yet to be installed, a few replacement benches, and ongoing repairs to the statue of Noel Lloyd, the park is virtually complete.

“There was considerable damage to the bathroom, to the hardscape, benches, the pathway,” Hodge said. “The pathway was redone with mesh wire and reinforced concrete, and it is now fenced. So it is now a better, stronger park. The trees that have been planted and, it will have a beautiful white canopy that will produce a lot of shade. It is supposed to be quite a lovely display when it matures.”

While he was unable to provide the exact cost of the undertaking, Hodge said renovations cost fewer than $100,000.

In the meantime, other parts of the capital such as the vicinity of the traffic lights and the main roundabout in town will also receive a facelift.

“In the next few weeks, you will see some more activities,” he said.

Work on this leg of the project kicked off in early January and is scheduled to complete by mid-March. The cost of that undertaking is roughly $50,000, Hodge said.

Wow. Absolutely correct English in use for once. “Fewer than $100,000 “ is spot on even though most would say “ less than”

Notwithstanding the beautification which is very welcomed, it will be worthless if the sewerage issues leading to the sewerage stench and overflow in Road Town and surrounding areas which we receive in daily doses are not permanently resolved.

Why does another media filter and comment Remotely against VIP. All I commented was that the “ NDP 1 and NDP 2 names are played out. And why no one name VIP 1 and VIP 2 (PU) “

    • @Why says:

@Because it is lame and stale. 8 years from now no one will be saying NDP 1 and 2. The whole incident was recent so it is still fresh. The more you try to stretch this out, the more people will remember and keep using the term NDP 1 and 2. Just let it go and ride this one out and it will eventually pass.
