RTW employee runs to raise support for Diabetes Association

PRESS RELEASE: On Sunday, December 29th, NorthWest employees and community members from store locations challenged themselves with the Grand Cayman Marathon a 26.2 mile run in support of the Company’s Healthy Horizons Foundation.

Representing the British Virgin Islands was Mr Henschel George from Roadtown Wholesale Trading, whose fundraising efforts helped to raise $8,500 for the BVI Diabetes Association.

The success of months fundraising event was made possible by customer donations on ‘World Diabetes Day’ at all RiteWay Food Markets locations.

RiteWay Food Markets also raised funds by raffling a TV.

“We are pleased to recognize and thank Henschel George, long-time Roadtown Wholesale employee for participating in this event and our customers for their generous support of this worthy cause,” stated Guy Strickland, Managing Director, Roadtown Wholesale.

Mr Donald Turnbull of the BVI Diabetes Association expressed his gratitude to RTW for choosing to support the Diabetes Association and their efforts to provide assistance for those in needs within the community.

She noted that the funds would go a long way in helping to raise awareness and advocate for a healthy lifestyle is the beginning of combatting non-communicable diseases and ultimately limiting their effects on the community.
