Rumours about McMaster killing results in new murder attempt

The police are appealing for the public to discontinue the spread of misinformation that is endangering the lives of others and could compromise investigations into the murder of Everton McMaster.

Everton McMaster is the BVI’s third murder victim of 2020.

A media release from the police said several voice notes are being circulated implicating three local men as the persons responsible for the murder.

The police believe that as a result of these erroneous voice notes, an attempt was made on the life of Cliff Williams in Long Look around 6:15 pm last night. Police told BVI News that several gunshots were heard in the area but no one was injured.

“Detectives believe these claims (the contents of the voice notes) are not only false but are intended to interfere with and divert attention from the investigation since there is no evidence to support these reckless accusations. Police are appealing to the persons not to take matters in their own hands and to desist from all retaliatory behaviour as it is hampering efforts to bring justice in this investigation,” the police release said.

The police say detectives from the Major Crime Team are continuing investigations into the murder of McMaster. He was killed around 3 pm in Baughers Bay on November 6. Detectives arrested one person yesterday for questioning in relation to that murder.

Police continue to appeal to anyone who has information pertaining to the murder of McMaster and the attempted murder of Cliff Williams to contact Detective Inspector Vernon Larocque directly on 284-368-9809 or the Major Crime Investigation Team on 284-368-5682.

The public is being reminded that all information will be treated with the strictest confidence.

You’d be surprised to know what some ppl would do in an attempt to paint someone else out to be the bad guy. We’ve seen this so many times in the BVI, especially with these kinds of cases. A bunch of hearsay and rumours with zero facts. It’s literally a trademark if you pay close attention over the years. The real killer and crew comes on the blogs and send out WhatsApp messages staining someone else’s name to divert attention from themselves. It’ll all come to light soon enough. But in the meantime, ask yourself this question: what random person could’ve gotten so close to Mr McMaster in the heart of Baugher’s Bay (his neighbourhood) AND make a clean escape without eye witnesses? 8 times out of 10, the person responsible can be found in the same clique as the victim. “God please protect me from my ‘friends’; I can take care of my enemies”.

I am glad you make that point about friends. Also friends will come to the hospital to make sure that you are dead even cry over your death. That is why this investigation needs to be thorough ruling out no one. The question people are asking is why the police is so sure about who did not commit the murder and the investigation is not over.

Too many people are being gunned down in the BVI. Just 3 years ago, 2 were gunned down by scooter riders…with 1 being a young child, how come the police are mum on that and other murders???? But, many of us in the community will continue to pray for the victims, THEY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN BY US! R.I.P little angel & Mr.Penn

    Sooo…

Instead of working the murder or the attempted murder or going after the gunman, the police complain to the public. Really?

And remember, there are no guns in the BVI

    Carry on
