Rymer apologises as Anegada fire tender returned

Kye Rymer

Communications and Works Minister Kye Rymer has apologised in the wake of a fiasco involving the removal of a fire tender from the Auguste George Airport in Anegada.

Rymer told residents yesterday, December 5 that the fire truck had been returned to Anegada, allowing the airport to reopen after it was closed abruptly on Sunday.

The truck’s removal created a mini firestorm after residents of Anegada complained about its relocation to Virgin Gorda.

The truck on Virgin Gorda sustained mechanical issues. Deputy Premier Lorna Smith had insisted that the truck be returned after revealing that Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley decided on the fire tender’s removal while away on a trip to Dubai.

“I want to acknowledge the inconvenience that our residents on the sister island of Anegada have faced due to the unintentional delay,” Rymer stated yesterday. “Please accept our sincere apologies for any disruption caused.”

The Works Minister said he understood the challenges that the fire truck’s removal presented and assured residents that every effort was made to expedite its return to minimise further inconvenience.

According to Rymer, despite the delay, the safety of residents was never compromised. He further explained that immediate measures were taken to prioritise medical assistance and evacuation for Anegadians if required.

“Your understanding and patience during this transitional period in our services have not gone unnoticed and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your resilience and cooperation,” the Works Minister said.

Why is he apologising. It was not done under his instructions. Thank you Lorna in Annegada corner. Lorna for premier. She just had to open her mouth and the cat and kittens scamper. Now we see who holds the real power. I am still insisting that the most inept leader ever and anywhere in the world give a public apology to lorna in our corner for acting while vacationing on the people’s dime and not recognizing that there was an acting premier.

I reintegrate as I did earlier that if Andrew had no authority to request a letter from a public officer while overseas then this nondeplume we have as an accidental premier had no authority to send o fire truck no where.

I say Lorna ring the bell and let this accident be gone. The accident should never have occurred.

He needs to step down and give us Lorna in our Corner as Premier. A lot of the craziness they doing will not happen under Lorna. That’s a fact.
