Rymer condemns ‘senseless’ killing of K’moi Walters
Fifth District Representative Kye Rymer has condemned the fatal shooting of K’moi Walters as a “cruel and senseless act of violence”, calling on anyone with information to assist police as they investigate the territory’s first murder of 2026.
In a statement issued on Virgin Islands Day following the fatal shooting in Huntums Ghut, Rymer expressed sympathy to Walters’ relatives and friends, saying the tragedy had overshadowed what should have been a day of celebration.
“It is with deep sadness that we awoke this Virgin Islands Day to the tragic news of the senseless death of K’moi Walters in Huntums Ghut,” Rymer stated.
He added that the holiday “is meant to be a day to celebrate our history, culture, and the pride we share as Virgin Islanders”, but instead “a family is grieving the unimaginable loss of a son, loved one, friend, and proud father to his son, Kyrie”. Rymer also extended condolences to Walters’ mother, Tasha, his family and others affected by the loss.
Reflecting on Walters’ death, Rymer said the young man had “a full life ahead of him” and described the loss of his future as heartbreaking.
“Like so many of our young people, he had dreams to pursue, aspirations to fulfil, and a future of endless possibilities. It is heartbreaking that those opportunities were stolen in such a cruel and senseless act of violence,” Rymer said.
Rymer also appealed directly to members of the public to support the ongoing homicide investigation.
“As the Representative for the Fifth District, I urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and assist the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in their investigation,” Rymer stated, adding that “Justice for K’moi and his family depends on the willingness of those who know something to speak up.”
Rymer’s appeal follows an earlier statement from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, which confirmed that officers were investigating a fatal shooting in the Huntums Ghut area during the early hours of Monday, July 6. Police said the victim was transported to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.
Police have said investigations remain ongoing and have urged anyone with information to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9512 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477.

Festival coming up and we going see a set of people with ski mask on dancing and y’all think that is normal.
What ski mask represent in the underworld?
Y’all even got dudes coming dress and bank robbers with balloon gun and money bags…wa kinda message y’all sending?
Then when crimes get committed we bawl out stop stop?
We only shout stop when things happen after a lil time past back to the same program….
We can’t be serious in this place.
Be proactive
Do not condone the following:
Condone crime
Condone party life which is funded by fast life.
Condone bad habits like smoking
Condone drug trafficking
Condone fast life
Condone wearing flashy jewellery like a hamster
Condone songs with lyrics about drugs sex violence gangs and fast life
Make youths and adults feel shame for being violent, partying like an animal, drinking like a drunkard, supporting drug activities, promoting drugs and sex. This place got people chasing popularity and trying to fit in. Right the culture everybody wants to fit in is being criminals, wearing jewelry, dressing like thugs and prostitutes, partying drinking smoking etc if we call out these things and make them feel stupid they will change.
Too much single mothers in the place who got knocked by a criminal and expected that person to be responsible and faithful parent
Too many baby showers with no ring then 5 years later father gone bout them business and mother still partying and raising she kids to behave reckless just like she
Too many dudes trying to fit in and look tough by joining gangs or following a certain life style
There’s and old, but true saying …..
You are who you associate with!
That applies to nearly aspect of life.
So sorry to hear this, but let’s look at our young men body language and deportment with all these big gold chain and hair style meaning that you associate on a particular level in life that could be troubling, your deportment pushes you to romanticize anti-life equation like these gangster rappers and the Vybz Kartel and other unsavory characters suggesting your lifestyle instead of you taking charge and be safe as our parent always preach to us because of love. I would wish this could come to an end but the capitalist flamboyant ostentatious lifestyle always attract people desiring to be validated.
