Rymer will turn Water & Sewerage around, Premier assures

Minister for Transportation Works and Utilities, Kye Rymer.

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has insisted that Works & Utilities Minister Kye Rymer is the right person to fix the troublesome Water & Sewerage Department.

Speaking in the House of Assembly (HOA) as legislators debated converting the entity into a statutory body recently, Dr Wheatley pointed to comments made by Third District Representative Julian Fraser about the need for finding someone who is the right fit for revamping the entity.

“This minister can look at a situation and he can come up with solutions, and he can deliver,” Premier Wheatley said of Rymer.

Dr Wheatley praised Rymer for being on the ground advocating for and working with staff of the Public Works Department on weekends, “working when normally, you can’t get them out there”.

He also praised Rymer for ‘turning around’ the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), while serving as the Head of that department under Fraser who was then Minister of Works in a previous Virgin Islands Party (VIP) administration.

“It’s no different with water. Now, he’s been able to analyse the situation to say, ‘these are the challenges holding us back’,” the Premier said.

The Premier further stated that Rymer has the character and vision to execute the job and also has built the relationships needed to accomplish his tasks.

Territorial At-Large Representative and former Health Minister Carvin Malone, who has since crossed the political aisle to become a member of the parliamentary Opposition, also added his voice in raising kudos to Rymer as a man who can “get things done”.

Malone praised Rymer for his work in moving forward with the revamp of the market square, as well as for the traffic ‘turnaround’ which several persons have credited for adding relief to the congested traffic situation in Road Town.

Me Rymer why not start with turning DMV around. After all you have experience working there and knows what’s needed. That would be a tremendous help.

  15. Whats Next? says:

That Woman turned the Department into h**l. Every water & sewerage employee you talk to either can’t wait for retirement or praying for a transfer. The government stood by for years and watch the employees tormented by that dictator and did nothing. Many still work overtime without pay. Government breaking its own labour laws.

  17. Wellsaw says:

This is such a crucial time in our history we need leadership. They had four years to turn this thing around including forcing bogus bills on us. They could have written them off and start over especially when they knew after the hurricane they couldn’t find the real records.

Kye’s district is falling apart the sentiments is that he’s not getting anything done. He and Natalio and others need to throw in the towel and let this thing go back to the polls but they won’t do that. That is put country above self because they wan’t to serve out their term to get their gratuity benefits.

No work is coming out of his ministry.

Why he don’t stop spewing piddle? Give the department the money ? It needs to fix the issues that they know. It wasn’t the Skelton boy use to help run DMV? Once you are not turning it around like the traffic and market square.

  21. Well says:

The lady say daylight does catch night. I really think you all need to leave the lady alone because many in the public know and the staff know that she is not the problem. I worked with her and she has lots of accomplishments but does not brag. Another thing we who know her knows she does not stay cornered for too long. You all need the good lady in her corner.

  22. Aha says:

    Who ready to debate it?
