Months following Vincent Wheatley’s resignation as Sister Islands Coordinator to contest the 2019 General Elections, Sasha Flax has been appointed to act as his replacement.
Her appointment will take effect on March 1, four days after the elections.
Flax, whose appointment came from the governor, will be responsible for “providing expert advice on programmes and projects to improve the delivery of services to Sister Islands to ensure an acceptable standard of living”, a media release from the Office of the Deputy Governor said.
The release said coupled with those responsibilities, Flax will serve as Commissioner of Oaths for the Sister Islands. As Commissioner of Oaths, Flax’s mandate is to ensure the duties of this role are carried out in what it described as a timely and professional manner.
“Flax will serve as itinerant administrator for the Sister Islands and monitor, promote and facilitate the execution of projects designed to bring about sustained improvement in the quality, quality and delivery of government services,” the release further said.
Flax, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Travel Tourism and Hospitality Management, has served as Business Development Manager at the Department of Trade since 2017.
