Sea Cows Bay had become the funeral capital — Fraser

Third District Representative Julian Fraser said he is pleased that churches outside his constituency, which had been impacted by the September hurricanes, are getting back to a state of normalcy and can carry out functions such as hosting funerals once more.

Fraser said his district had become the “funeral capital” in recent times, having hosted a considerable number of funeral services.

The New Life Baptist Church in Duff’s Bottom and the Sea Cow’s Bay Methodist Church were the main facilities used to host these services.

“As you know, Sea Cows Bay has become the funeral capital since we were the only church that was standing,” he said at a recent sitting of the House of Assembly.

“I am glad to see other communities are getting their churches back so that they can hold their functions in their churches.”

The funeral service for the late Police Inspector, Francia James-Liburd; former educator, Inez Turnbull; former First Lady Lillian Romney as well as the funeral service for media pioneer, Merritt Herbert were all held in or near the Sea Cow’s Bay community.

Fraser also took the time to express sympathy to survivors of deceased persons.

“I want to express my condolence, sorrow, deep loss to the community, to the many people who have lost their loved ones,” he remarked
