Sewage flowing from yard to yard

“I don’t know if the Planning Department is conscious of sometimes the size of buildings that pop up, or how close one building is to another. But the problem exists where somebody’s mess is flowing into somebody else’s yard,” said Christopher.

“I don’t know if the Planning Department is conscious of sometimes the size of buildings that pop up, or how close one building is to another. But the problem exists where somebody’s mess is flowing into somebody else’s yard,” said Christopher.

While lamenting that some residents have sewage running into their neighbours’ yards, representative of the Fifth Electoral District Delores Christopher recently indicated that she wants the Planning Department to thread more carefully when granting approval for the construction of living quarters, especially on meagre plots of lands.

“I don’t know if the Planning Department is conscious of sometimes the size of buildings that pop up, or how close one building is to another. But the problem exists where somebody’s mess is flowing into somebody else’s yard,” said Christopher.

“In the first place, it seems to me that a certain size plot really can’t take a three-story building. You have to look at the occupants – how many people are going to occupy.”

The Fifth District representative, while calling for action to be taken, indicated to the House of Assembly that persons in her own District have been affected, and have been calling her for help.

“These things are not easy because they only calling one person; that’s the District representative.”

“I know that the minister for Communication and Works [Mark Vanterpool] is trying to address the issue aggressively. They are doing that and so we gonna wait a little longer, because funding is always an issue,” added Christopher.
