Shipment delay halts fix to sewerage issue in Pasea

Kye Rymer

Addressing the sewerage problems happening next to the Delta Gas Station in Pasea has hit a snag because of a delay in the shipment of imported materials.

Works & Utilities Minister Kye Rymer gave that indication while noting that he thought it was necessary to give an update on the matter since it is a matter affecting residents.

He said the Water and Sewerage Department is currently awaiting materials that were ordered a few months ago and should have arrived already.

“However, due to the economic challenges faced by the global pandemic, these items are still in transit to the territory,” Rymer said.

“The department aims to conduct an overhaul and install a permanent remedy that is expected to last up 50-60 years. This project will be conducted in three phases, and I am happy to report that phase one has been completed, and as a result, 320 feet of line were installed,” Rymer said.

According to Rymer, once the materials are shipped, a temporary solution will be implemented to address the current issue which has resulted in a massive crater on the eastbound lane of the highway.

“I thank the public for their patience and understanding and ask that you take extreme caution when traversing on the eastbound lane of the Sir Francis Drake [Highway],” Rymer added.

No matter which government is in sewage will be a challenge,Sewage needs to be separated from Water and let a private company deal with it and let them charge a small fee from each house owner and businesses that is on the sewage line.

Are these delays the same items which have been causing the sewage leak for 2 years outside road reef plaze flooding the marina with Raw sewage.

  10. While waiting on the shipment why can't they look at the usvi or other Caribbean Islands for the parts needed. This is a government working for you ( NOT) says:

One has to wonder what’s causing the frequent issues in the John’s Hole area. Pipes constantly breaking causing the road to be constantly dug up leaving a disgusting dusty road. Long delays in road repairs for years! Cars obstructing traffic at the corner just above the Adamson dentistry. Dogs roaming the roads days and night and scaring pedestrians and residents. Noise from all sorts of things, cars with LOUD music, church events that seem to need the WHOLE world to hear what’s happening in Tortola. Nothing’s wrong with worshipping but does it have to be so loud? Scooters at high speed all day and night even in front of the police station, ahead of police vehicles too! When would law obeying people in the BVI get a break? When would sick people at home get some peace and quiet? When would the district representatives really work for their districts? When would the BVI have pride in their environment again?

  13. ohh I see says:

your shipment delay and you bawling so what about the charter companies who complain of same? why were they not given extended time when their shipment was delayed?

  14. one sided says:

boat ppl order their stuff long time now and their shipment were delayed. the local companies could not met the demand needed thus it had to be shipped and when their shipment is delayed they were being fined. well you need to have the stuff locally so that ppl can buy it all now stuff are not available locally

  15. Sara says:

They fixing the issue as we speak so appearently the parts came rather quickly

    • yes Sara says:

because the boat companies had ordered their stuff from before their shipment was delayed so some of their boats could not be in compliance. they were asking for JUST a little more time until the shipment arrived.

  16. Big Richard says:

Yep, blame it on the pandemic
