Skelton Cline audits given December deadline

Claude Skelton Cline

Audits into all government contracts awarded Pastor Claude Skelton Cline since 2019 are expected to conclude by the end of this year.

This is according to the proposal that was approved between the government and UK Overseas Territories Minister Amanda Milling.

The recommendations for the audits stem from the Commission of Inquiry (COI) reports which was released weeks ago.

The proposal says the Auditor General will present the completed audit report to the governor and it was given a deadline of December 31, 2022.

A review done by the Commission of Inquiry found that contracts executed between the government and Skelton Cline since 2019 were patently false and demonstrated ‘serious dishonesty’ on the part of public officials.

“On the evidence, there can be little if any doubt that these contracts were, on their face, false. They did not attempt to set out the intended contractual obligations of Mr Skelton Cline (if any),” COI Commissioner Sir Gary Hickinbottom found in his report.

As a result of this, the Commissioner concluded that, “as soon as practical, a full audit of these contracts should be performed by the Auditor General or some other independent person or body instructed by her, and a report on that audit be presented to the Governor.”

He said this should be to the extent that the clergyman was not performing his contractual obligations, the circumstances in which Skelton Cline was paid out of the public purse; and whether the contracts provided any value for money.

In the meantime, Skelton Cline has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing in executing any of his contracts and has argued that he has been targeted unfairly.

During his appearance before the Inquiry, Skelton Cline told the Commission that the best forum for him to be of assistance would be in a “private setting”.

If this man has done something wrong and it has been proven then he should suffer the consequences. It however would serve the bvi people well to do some research and ask people who know about the way the British has operated in the Caribbean. Their number one strategy is to turn you against your own so that the things that they want to do can be done. Do we really think that people who enslaved us will be so overly concerned about our well being? Pay more attention to what is happening in the world. Pay attention to the shrinking British empire especially since they left the EU. Pay attention people! Why does the governor want to be so involved with our constitutional committee? People pay attention. How do I steal from your house? – I tell you that someone else is stealing and cause you to look at them while I rob the whole damn place. The British has practiced this game for centuries all over the world. Stop making these games work on your minds. Colonialism will have you trained to disbelieve what I have said and make you curse at me or cause you press dislike numerous times.

IF he do something? Did you read the report at all?

      • @Trevor says:

Was the COI a court of law or was it just an inquiry? Didn’t they say that they did not require a license because they are not practicing law and it was only an inquiry? Then why are you giving the report the force of law? Clear your minds people. So because a one man commission puts something down on paper it means that it is true?

Yes, that’s exactly what it means. The commission investigating corruption found it in his contracts. These are now being examined further, expect criminal proceedings. Sure, lets wait until the cuffs go on, but where there is heavy smoke…

Can we get away from “these people that enslaved us”? The people from the UK that we deal with today are NOT the people that enslaved us. You cannot continue to blame this generation for what the ones before them wrought or think that this generation is behaving in the same way.

@farmhouse. You appear to be contradicting yourself. It does not really matter who conducts the investigation, be it the local Police or Scotland Yard. I am sure that the young man would want to clear his name. The public also would want to make sure that their tax Incomes did not go down the drain. On the other hand, your statements tend to suggest that the matter be muted until self rule?

    • @Farmhouse says:

There were concerns about this man’s dealings with government long before the British came. Let justice run its course.

Not only is your statement untrue in principle, it shows that you underestimate how corrupt the “Brits” were.

Unfortunately they are declining to the point where they may soon be victims of those they once victimized. Any good that they may have done will be trampled over by history. That would be a shame because there are a lot of good British people today.
