Skelton Cline takes ‘sabbatical’ from pastoral duties after church dissociates

After a series of events that ultimately led the board of trustees at the New Life Baptist Church to distance themselves, Virgin Islands Party spokesperson Pastor Claude Skelton Cline, the clergyman, has now opted to take a leave of absence from his pastoral duties at the church.

Skelton Cline serves as an assistant to the bishop at the church.

Following the church’s announcement to distance itself from the clergyman on Thursday, Pastor Skelton Cline issued a statement saying he ‘accepts’ the church’s position.

“Clearly, my positions are and always will be mine. Furthermore, for the sake of the kingdom and the local church, I will exercise the strength to be weak and take a sabbatical. However, I will be in worship as usual,” Skelton Cline said.

New Life Baptist Church said it was distancing itself from Skelton Cline because church members and others were “concerned” about Skelton Cline’s conduct and statements in the local political arena.

Among other things, Skelton Cline faces the threat of a lawsuit for publicly accusing an NDP candidate of bribing voters.

Try take a leave from VIP party as well and get a mental assessment whilst you’re at it. Seriously seek counselling. It is not normal for someone to be so bitter about something for so long. Your symptoms seem to be getting worse and worse.

Genuinely concerned. Use your show to reach out to youths; to act as a prayer line for the sick, needy, distraught; to offer counselling to men, fathers, young leaders. Time is short. Do not leave behind unfinished tasks. Do not go on in life without fulfilling your purpose. If all things work together for good to them that love God, why you still so bitter? Let us pray….
