Skelton Cline warns voters about PLM’s tactics

Claude Skelton Cline

Commentator Claude Skelton Cline has urged voters to scrutinise the People’s Leadership Movement’s (PLM) electoral strategy, claiming the party hopes to help form a coalition government if no party secures an outright majority.

Skelton Cline argued on his Honestly Speaking programme that the Mark Vanterpool-led movement lacked the electoral base to win enough seats to govern independently. He presented the coalition scenario as his political analysis.

“He is hoping to coalesce around certain individuals for the purpose of helping to form the government. That’s what the PLM is banking on,” Skelton Cline said.

He suggested Vanterpool was counting on winning the Fourth District, alongside victories for Sixth District Representative Myron Walwyn and Territorial At-Large Representative Lorna Smith.

Skelton Cline did not establish that either representative had agreed to join such an arrangement.

The talk show host said his scenario depended on no party winning seven seats if the elected House membership remained at 13, or eight if it expanded to 15.

“So what they are attempting is another way to skin a cat,” he said. “Now the question is do you want to be the cat that’s being skinned?”

He also criticised the National Democratic Party (NDP), arguing that its leadership should require Walwyn to clarify his political position within a specified timeframe.

Turning to the PLM’s message of unity, Skelton Cline accused the movement of using its “we are one people” slogan for political advantage. He alleged that the party sought to “prey” on voters’ emotions and national status to advance its own narrow interests.

Skelton Cline insisted that his criticism concerned politics rather than personal grievances and urged listeners to examine what candidates were offering. “None of this with me is personal. This is the politics of it, and this is what I believe is in the good of the country. So I don’t take any offence, and I don’t attempt to offer any,” he said.

The commentator further alleged that political candidates across party lines would traditionally approach households facing financial difficulties and offer money, vouchers or household necessities.

He told listeners to accept assistance they needed but maintain their independence when voting.

“You’re going to have your [needs] and your needs are legitimate and they’re going to seek to fulfill your legitimate needs in illegitimate ways,” he said. “Take the voucher they’re giving you… but do not exchange your innocence because they’re giving you something.”

Even a broken clock is right two time a day, in this instance I have to agree with Mr. Cline. I agree Mr. Vanterpool is not to be trusted he cares less for the Virgin Islands and more for his family and what they can get, so in this instance don’t look at the messenger but the message.

Why Fraude Skeleton-Crying don’t dedicate one of this upcoming shows to explaining how the taxpayer’s funding to the tune of $600K was spent during his Neighborhood Plan under the VIP many years ago? This man talks as if he loves the BVI when he was given $600K to do absolutely nothing. As if that wasn’t enough, he returned in 2019 under another VIP administration and was being paid $16k per month and once again, nothing to show for it. Why does anyone care what this con man has to say? He is simply foaming at the mouth because he no longer has any connections.

My heart aches every week when I see this Pastor killing himself about politics. It is time Sir to chain the wheel on your weekly programs. So many of us outside here are broken, turning to alcohol, drugs and sex to make us happy. It is time to spread the word of God. Our families are dying daily and most of them are lost because they tell themselves today I will give my heart but tomorrow never comes. Pastor you will have to give account to God for all those wasted time for politics and not winning one soul for him. What you need to do is asked God one more time to Come into your heart to stay and let him use you. We need to pray for this country, pray for all the ministers of government and church, husband and wives, children and everyone that dwell here that they will surrender to God, listen and do his well so our precious will turn pleasing to him and us.

BVI as you traveled along the highways and byways pray for this country, encourage one with the word of God . Turn from your wicked ways ad God will heed this land of ours.

Now hurricane, no rain, people are sick and hurting. Life is short. We don’t know what to expect. Hold on to God because he will never give up on you. Redemption drawers nigh. The signs are all around us.

    Keep the faith BVi
