Some persons want to be my enemy — Premier

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has accused some persons in the territory of waking up each day and wanting to be his enemy.

The Premier made that statement while speaking in the House of Assembly recently.

“I know that there are persons, for whatever reason, who have decided that they’re my enemy. And they wake up every day trying to figure out how they’re going to see my downfall. But I pray a prayer of David in Psalms 27,” Dr Wheatley stated.

“Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?” the Premier stated before finishing up the scripture in reference. Dr Wheatley said he prays that God preserves him ‘even in the midst of adversity’ but did not share any details about the adversity he was facing at the time.

The Premier, who shared that the prayer was for the BVI as well, made the comments on the heels of a thanksgiving service held at the QEII Park.

Dr Wheatley previously asked the community to pray and fast in January, saying the territory has been confronted with various challenges since the start of the year.

He urged that it was important to seek divine guidance and intervention while acknowledging the Lord’s unwavering blessings.

While addressing the audience at the special service, Premier Wheatley said the special unity event was not merely a show as he knows that “God is not to be mocked.”

“There will be some who will question whether this service of unity is a show, whether it’s part of a political charade. Let me assure you that I live in the fear of the Lord and I know God is not to be mocked,” the Premier said. “We must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Though man may say one thing or the other, God knows the contents of our heart.”

Calls for prayer and fasting have come in the wake of a controversial request by former governor John Rankin for the UK to give more powers to the Governor’s Office in the BVI.

Rankin made that request after he determined that there was insufficient drive and determination across the various ministries and departments to deliver on the agreed-upon Commission of Inquiry (COI) recommendation deadlines.

Enlighten us please as to positive actions Mr. Wheatley has taken to further the interests of the Territory. A $ 1 million elevator at the admin building? More than $ 1 million for some flimsy vendor shacks at Pier Park? Roads remain in poor condition, schools still waiting for repairs from Irma now going on seven years ago, nore recently revival of the airport expansion madness that the Territory does not havemoney for etc etc. So, please, what has Mr. Wheatley done that is positive?

That is what negative people do. There are many, many who are enemies of the Black man, which hatred began in the sixteenth century with certain political events and rulings. To understand why Black people are so hated, one has to go back to that time and those historical documents by the rulers and influencers of the time.

Hence, the hate the Premier is referring to and perhaps perceiving and feeling has two phases one) the fact that he is in charge of, oversees and controls millions of dollars and two) that he is of the African Race.

Every person who is enlightened to the historical facts know the view point of those who control the world economy, in which a personal opinion being dominant, expouses that a certain segment of the human population are not to have resources of any kind. They are to be as the servitude person centuries ago was kept, an object for wealth creation for others never himself, but not for himself.

Yes, indeed, there many who still hold such views, and there are those who themselves are potent and helpless enemies of the people who look like him.

Those who have experienced hate due to skin color and other can definitely relate to such perceptions perception.

This prose/comment could serve as a teaching moment, but given the history of this site, it would surprising if the public would get an opportunity to read such journalistic historical truths.

Get a grip. It’s not about his color. They want passable roads, healthy schools, running water, no sewage in the streets, a functioning healthcare system. They want the nepotism and graft to stop.

A true Christian doesn’t have to preach to everyone. He should just get on with his job. After all, the previous Premier preached frequently, yet used witch doctors and committed serious crimes. “By their fruits ye shall know them….”

Of course, it is know what they want. they want ever to be associated with thr truth. The have a deep ever lasting with feeling. a certain way negatie approaches revealing their true self.

The locals are the ones begging for good roads, infrastructure, good governance and others, not those who are of none local stock perhaps like your self pretending to be speaking for local in an attemp to soften the guilt and place the psychological marrowon else where.

I think most people of BVI should look up the bvi’s population through google. Notice how BVI’s population hasn’t grown in the past 10 years. Notice how a large majority of the population is over the age of 40 and many of the youth are leaving the island for the states and other school opportunities. At this point many more homes will be owned by the banks. Your population longevity won’t be able to keep this pace up. Please stop looking at non locals as a issue when you send your kids to the states and your grand kids can’t come home.

  11. I hate to have to say this says:

The premier is right. When ever he says something and it goes up on the news sites, it almost always have persons saying negative of him. In my opinion he is the best premier we have had in a long time.

Over the years I have listen to comments made on what the government of the time was doing. I know a guy who likes to talk about all the negatives such and such minister been doing. And the guy always been right in what he been saying. But under this present premier leadership the guy been quite, nothing negative to say of this premier.

I can honestly say under this present government a lot of promises have came to reality. I have noticed a lot of work was done. Realistically the government cannot fix every problem. The government cannot make everybody have a full pocket. What a government can do is try to give the best compromise of an easier life for the majority.

I think this government is trying they best to make life the best they can for everyone.

I think persons need to be realistic and bare with the leaders.

    • Good job? Not so much says:

Spend 250k on “free” concert (no rationale or measure of success other than them saying that you need to spend money to make money) and then turn around last week and spend a further 200k for consultants on airport project. Hmmmm.

No financial statements. No assessment of financial services (reviews done by authorities and mumms the word on where we stand as an industry) no follow up on the police act, what is our real gdp (can someone tell me), cost of living getting out of control no freedom of information (at this point it’s is willful) where are we’re going strategically as it relates to the overall economy, shitty roads and infrastructures etc etc etc

S!0w W@nde and the A$$ C!0wn Brigade have to step it up Chop Chop

  14. Enemies says:

I submit that Mr.Wheatley makes his own enemies as a result of his actions and or lack thereof. Secondly, no politician has pleased 100% of the people 100% of the time so if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

  15. The word is Premier says:

not Preacher. We are all non-denominational constituents in a free society, not a congregation to be shamed into starvation and then blamed later for Governments failures.
