St George’s names top students

The end-of-year grades are out at St George’s Secondary School on Tortola, and 16-year-old Chris-Tiann Roberts and Brandon Kartic have been named the top students in academics.

Roberts achieved the highest spot with a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) and Kartic followed with a GPA of 3.67.

The school saw a 100 percent pass rate for all its final year students.

There were 34 students enrolled this year in the final year programme, which ends at Grade 11.

“They’ve all met academic requirements and I am delighted and exhilarated. I feel great. This is the largest number of students we’ve had since I’ve been here over the past two years, and I’m very delighted that all of them have academically passed to go through to graduate,” said Principal at the privately owned educational institution, Dr Antoinette Rock.

The school is now set to host its 2017 graduation ceremony on Wednesday (June 28) at the St George’s Anglican Church on Main Street in Road Town.

Roberts, who is now awaiting her Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) results, is the valedictorian for 2017. She sat 12 CXC subjects in one sitting.

Meanwhile, Kartic, who sat nine CXC subjects, is St Georges Secondary’s salutatorian for the 2017.

Here are some names of other top performers at the school this year: Davindra O’Neal, Auteisha Chambers, Jada Samuel, Solene Seaman, Malik George, and Jose Lopez.
