Stop complaining and fix the problems!

At-Large Representative Ronnie Skelton has challenged the Dr Natalio Wheatley-led government to stop blaming previous administrations for the territory’s current challenges and instead focus on finding solutions.

“This country is the only country I see where people get an inheritance and complain about it day in and day out,” Skelton said jokingly.

“You convinced the country that you were the better group to take this country forward, so let’s do that. Stop talking about ‘oh, I inherited this.’ My modus operandi is to fix things. If I’m responsible, I’ll fix them, and if I’m not, I can’t.”

Skelton compared the government’s approach to the biblical story of the prodigal son.

“You got an inheritance, don’t be like the prodigal son who went and squandered his. I’d like to inherit some of the stuff ayo have,” he added, drawing laughter from those inside the House.

His comments come amid growing public frustration over longstanding infrastructure problems, including chronic water shortages, unreliable electricity, and deteriorating roads, which residents say are not being addressed quickly enough.

Until the VIP Government is removed from Office, There will be No improvement in the State of the Territory. These people don’t have the know-how, nor the will power to take this Territory forward. All there they are interested in is to be the Government or the Premier to lead us into Independence. They are just looking for Bragging Rights. It doesn’t take Rocket Science for anyone to see or know this. All they are doing is playing Dolly House and squandering the Peoples’ Money. That Boy has No Idea what it means or takes to Lead a Country. Quite Sad But True. May the Lod have Mercy on this BVI.

This is our problem. What has Ronnie done since re-elected to be rewarded? He was a piss poor opposition leader. What has he done? I for one have never seen him once in my area since he got elected. Give me a break with this. Then he abstains from the vote of no confidence because he is in his feelings. Reward? You got to be joking.

Skelton’s ‘modus operandi’ sounds less like a blueprint and more like a disclaimer. If he’s not responsible, he won’t fix it. That’s not leadership, instead that’s selective engagement.

I don’t want to hear a word from Mr. Abstainer aka Mr. ENTITLEMENT. You had a chance to show your support for the people during the vote of no confidence but you chose not to debate and you abstained from voting because you are not the leader of the opposition. This hypocrisy and self politics makes me sick. I will not be voting for you next election. Sorry

That is very childish for a man who is nearly 75 years old. I saw myron working very good with Ronnie when he was leader of the opposition. But now the tables have turned he can’t work with Myron. That says a lot about who Ronnie is.

If Ronnie’s philosophy in running a country is dictated on his personal feelings for another colleague in parliament, that shows he’s not about doing the people’s work and more interested in his own personal agenda. Boss we want “people above self” leaders.

You ever heard him say he wanted to be Premier or Chief Minister ever? Stop casting your personal aspersions unto other people. Skelton never one day told anyone he has to be or wants to be Premier. It is the people who have been calling for him to be Premier.

And there is not a thing wrong with being entitled to certain things in your own house! That entitlement narrative needs to change! Trinis are entitled to certain rights and priviledges in TnT, just like Vincies in St. Vincent and Jamaicans in Jamaica. We cant go to their countries and get the same benefits. So if you don’t like our entitlement as Virgin Islanders in our own house, then go find somewhere else to live!

Actions speak louder than words. The if he didn’t want to be Premier why did he go out to form PVIM to be Premier after he lost the NDP in internal elections? Because he didn’t win he split up the party. He is a selfish man.
Then because he lost leader of the opposition he ran back to NDP and refused to support the very no confidence motion that he sought to bring twice when he was opposition leader. He did not debate and he abstained.
That is a passive aggressive lazy person who believes that he is ENTITLED to something without working.

it was implemented bad on the administration side; not the political side. it must and will be fixed. in the meantime, the current government can fix it; why aren’t they.

      • Ronnie is to blame for this says:

It was implemented bad all around so he never needed to push it period because children under 18 and seniors over 65 don’t pay in to NHI, a population of roughly 35,000 so that leaves the weight of NHI on the backs of people ages 18-64. How much of the WORKING population actually falls in that category? Look at the young men sitting on the corners not contributing to NHI but the minute they get in a scooter accident the same NHI has to cover their medical bill. In my humble opinion let people get their own insurance and let the government be responsible for children and seniors, who can’t afford or don’t want to be insured then ups to them. Put a policy in place for those who aren’t insured when they show up to the hospital for care

All of them needs to go. Every last one.

They are incompetent in Governing this Territory.

  11. well says:

He certainly has a point. You complained and complained and told the voting populous that past Governments needed to be removed because you are the young, agile, hard workers who can solve it all. Truth be told even thouh Hon. Skelton, Penn, Walwyn, Turnbull and Mather are in the HOA, their hands are tied. There are minute resources for them to do anything and the issues that we are having are in need of a huge amount of resources. If it is to be done, the Government has to do it. They have more money than any other Government ever had and other resources. Imagine we have a brand new asphalt plant and we can’t fix a pot hole. Things are going to the dogs in this Territory but we are spending upwards of $475 million a year. Make that make sense. They all don’t need to go, but the governing Ministers and their junior side kicks need to drive or get from behind the wheel. It is all sad really and we are more disappointed than upset because when you look at what the older politicians did with much less and without the internet it really gives you pause and makes you wonder why can’t this new generation do better. The answer must be because they don’t give a damn.

    • Icanseeclearly says:

If they don’t give a damn , they need to go. Empty promises and incompetence from top down past 20 plus years and present. Manipulators of words and con-artistry is all I see. It has nothing to do with age, it is about running a Country properly. All of them needs to go..
