‘Summer Sails’ visitors promised VIP clearance at local ports

Visitors who utilise the BVI Tourist Board’s new Summer Sails promotion are being promised ‘VIP clearance’ at the territory’s ports of entry.

The Tourist Board said this VIP clearance will include a greeter and expedited Customs and Immigration processes.

The Board launched the summer promotion to bring greater attention to its yachting sector, which is virtually the most vibrant sector in the local tourism industry since the September 2017 hurricanes.

Under the initiative, travellers/visitors will have access to discounts on a minimum seven-day sailing charter, or a five-day or seven-day stay on land — depending on the property.

The promotion is further offering options in sailing, diving, snorkelling, fishing and day charters in and across 60 of the territory’s islands.

The promotion is limited to 100 bookings and its offers are valid for travel between June 15 and August 15, the Tourist Board said.

The Board said the yachting sector currently has more than 1,800 boats and cabins available while land accommodations have about 565 rooms available.

Interested persons can visit the territory’s Summer Sails promotion website.

Be nice if they ever told us about these things.

  2. Please! says:

What in the world can 100 bookings do?

  3. well, well well says:

Any visitor/tourist should be “welcomed” any day everyday! Why is it that a promotion put on by the tourist board is offering such special treatment! disgusting

    • Karl says:

I agree it should expect everyday. No wonder the service is the way it is. Skin n grin one day for the status quo then got back to ratchet behavior the rest of the way? Coupes.

    The system is corrupt.

  5. Lb says:

The ignorance is appalling. If you understood anything about marketing and brand equity then you would understand why the promotion is so important. Hotelier they emailed us at least 5 times…they also held 2 industry meetings on VG and Tola. Expedited clearance is extra attention to our guests, just like pre clearance through TSA. Lastly 100 bookings is a he whole lot for anyone who understands destination Tourism…but as usual the ignorant have the most to say about that which they know nothing about.

  6. hmm2 says:

How is it that Customs and Immigration Officials knows nothing about this.

  7. Really>? says:

Does this mean that Customs and Immigration will treat them respectfully? They won’t shake them down unnecessarily? They won’t scold them for not completing their forms correctly? They won’t charge them $100 for entering the country? They won’t keep them waiting in long lines behind the locals? They won’t eat their lunch or watch tv while they wait in line?
