The BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) has announced that all taxi operators wishing to continue working at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island must join the designated Airport Taxi Association by February 17.

According to BVIAA Corporate Administrator Drusilla Fahie, an official association has always existed, but another group was informally established over time. The BVIAA is now streamlining operations by consolidating all airport taxi services under a single, recognized association.

“Historically, there was one association, but at some point, there was a split, leading to two. We are now working to bring it back to one,” Fahie explained.

She added that this approach is standard practice in many countries and aims to simplify interactions between taxi operators and airport authorities.

The BVIAA stated that the designated association will oversee all airport taxi services and enforce a strict code of conduct for its members. Moving forward, all matters related to airport taxi operations will be handled exclusively through this association.

BVI News contacted Taxi and Livery Commission head Jevaughn Parsons for comment, but he stated that he had not yet reviewed the BVIAA’s statement and could not provide a response at this time.

Taxi service is bad at airport. You have to pay double to be sole passenger and not wait for the taxi to fill up with people. After long flights you do not want or take a tour round the island before you finally get home.

Also the airport should reduce the car parking fees as they too expensive.
