Technical glitches delay road works projects
Road rehabilitation works across several areas on Tortola faced further delays last week after officials reported a technical glitch that prevented scheduled overlay work from beginning.
The road overlay programme, covering sections from Hope Hill to Long Swamp Police Station and several other communities such as Lower Estate, Huntum’s Ghut and John’s Hole, had been set to start earlier in the week. However, a representative of the Ministry of Communication and Works said the glitch disrupted the schedule.
Ministry spokesperson, Dean Greenaway, said the delay was “caused by a technical glitch”.
The Ministry said it regretted the setback and expected crews to return to the affected areas soon. “The Ministry of Communication and Works apologises for the delays in getting the work done”, Greenaway noted while adding that the plan was to have these areas addressed early this week.
Motorists were asked to drive carefully as works continue.
In addition to the overlay works, patching activities remain underway in multiple communities. Those areas include Fort Hill to Belle Vue, Sea Cows Bay from the bottom of Elevator Hill to Fort Recovery, and the stretch from Fort Recovery to Frenchman’s Cay and nearby First District locations.
The territory has been experiencing a cycle of road disruptions in recent months as infrastructure teams work through upgrades, drainage improvements, and resurfacing across multiple districts. Persistent challenges have prevented completion of these works on schedule, with some delays attributed to weather, equipment issues, and contractor availability.
Officials have not given any details about the nature of the technical issue, but pledged to resume the planned works as soon as the problem is resolved.

What is a Technical Glitch? Are we in the matrix?
Does the mean no materials? No skill set, were suppliers not paid ?
I believe it means the equipment has broken down & they are waiting for parts…..
Fix the road from town to East End. No excuses!
when hodges creek getting paved? out there like dodging landmines
These roads we have to traverse for Christmas when visiting our loved ones and carolling is going to be tough. Makes you want to cuss like Picko Moff, but tis the season to be merry.
It just dawned on me that the East End road is the Premier’s District, the Sea Cows Bay Road, the Deputy Premier’s District; the Huntums Ghut Road is the Minister for Communications and Works District. Well, yep, I agree with Picko Moff they must have helicopters. because the three top Ministers absolutely refuses to focus on the important things in their Districts but they deserved another raise? All this while the rest of us are continuously changing shocks, control arms and tires? Hon. Hodge Smith and Hon. Dawson are also traversing that West End Road daily. It is sickening how they smile in our faces while it is clear that they don’t give a hoot about us and our quality of life.
But, while we celebrate Jesus’ birth, let us be kind and show love to one another. That’s what Jesus would do. I Pray for strength and patience for all of us this Christmas Season.
