Three students offered second chance

All is not lost for the three students who did not meet the new graduation requirements at Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS), said Principal Sandy Underhill.

She said one of the three students only failed the Mathematics Proficiency Exam. That student will receive her graduation certificate as early as next month if she re-sits the exam and passes.

“The other two students failed the Math Proficiency Examination, but also did not meet the credit requirements in core subject areas,” added Underhill.

“These [two] students will be given an opportunity to return to ESHS or attend the Alternative Secondary Education Programme. They will be given a chance to take the exit exam in November 2017,” she added during the school’s graduation ceremony yesterday.

Of the 162 students who were enrolled in Grade 12 at the school, 159 were successful in achieving all the graduation requirements.
