Tomorrow’s leaders internship programme returns for third year
The future of the British Virgin Islands’ (BVI) financial services industry is being built today as BVI Finance officially announces the return of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme for its third consecutive year.
Designed to prepare the next generation of British Virgin Islanders, the programme offers tertiary-level students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at world-class financial services firms operating within the BVI.
The BVI remains one of the world’s leading international financial centres, and the Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme plays a critical role in ensuring that local talent is equipped to lead and sustain the industry well into the future.
“The Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme reflects our commitment to investing in people and building a strong pipeline of local talent for the financial services sector,” said Elise Donovan, CEO of BVI Finance. “By providing meaningful exposure, mentorship, and professional development, we are helping to ensure that Virgin Islanders are well-positioned to lead this industry for generations to come.”
Now in its third year, the programme has already delivered measurable results, placing 47 Virgin Islanders with more than 20 local financial services firms. Many participants have successfully transitioned into full-time roles, underscoring the programme’s effectiveness in bridging education and employment.
“What sets this programme apart is the quality of experience it provides,” said Shamahl A. Smith, Programme Lead. “Participants gain direct exposure to the financial services industry, allowing them to build skills, establish professional networks, and explore long-term career opportunities.”
