Tourists now seeing lack of progress in BVI
Third District political hopeful Aaron Parillon says repeat visitors to the territory are now beginning to see the lack of visible progress that residents have been bemoaning for some years now.
Parillon made the observation during an interview with Dakari Wheatley-Adams, creator and host of the social media vox pop series Street Talks.
“We have tourists coming into our country, and they’re basically complaining that they’ve been here before, and they have seen no improvement,” Parillon said. “We live here, and we could basically say, over the last 10 years, we have seen no improvement in certain aspects of our country.”
Asked by Wheatley-Adams to identify the biggest problem facing the territory, Parillon pointed to the BVI’s overall appearance and questioned whether residents are seeing enough results from government spending.
“The biggest problem facing the BVI right now is the outlook of our country,” he said. “I think our country needs to reflect its budget. It doesn’t reflect its budget, that’s the long and short.”
His comments come amid continued public complaints about ageing and inadequate infrastructure, including deteriorating roads, water and sewerage problems and the condition of some public facilities.
In the meantime, Parillon believes young BVIslanders could play an important role in helping to move the territory forward, but said they need to be more involved in national development. He called for young people to be given opportunities to sit in decision-making spaces and participate in think tanks where their ideas can help shape areas such as technology and tourism.
“I think right now, we have to get young people more engaged in the development of this country,” Parillon said, adding that they should be given platforms to “open their minds” and become creative.

Some of you all will say and do anything just to get elected into office so that you all can full your pockets, family and friends.
The BVI voters will never replace The Premier and Deputy for the likes of Perline and Aaron because none on them aint capable of handling a ministry……….If that happens then that means we are going backwards…….SO FOWARD EVER BACKWARDS NEVER!!!!!
VIP Voodoo won’t work. Yall go repent and ask the lord for forgiveness before down talking anyone else.
Every election Cycle someone from or affiliated with VIP ends up in jail or lost their jobs or under investigation. Corrupted organization
Aaron cannot and will not beat Willock.
Nobody in D3 really pushin willock.
Hes not going anywhere. Just too controversial when hes ready.
The answer is leadership. At the helm is someone who has no ounce of such. Other Caribbean countries with less spending power (via the currency that they use) manage to do twice, three times, maybe even four times as much as we have done over the years even without the advantage of the US currency that we have. These leaders have been blinded by greed and power, so corruption is all we have to show for it. We really need strong minded, forward thinking, can take backlash and have the best interest of the PEOPLE over SELF.
To the person/persons that dislike, you’re a part of the problem
This dude too desperate in my opinion
Desperate? Wiggy why you don’t stick to V from over here talking nonsense. Once you see this man’s name on any news site, you’re quick to run in here to make everyone looks shallow like you. You are and have always been jealous of this guy and I heard out your mouth how much you hate him.
The premier give you a job to pay your court fees. Take tax payers money, pay ya court fees and shut up. Waste of time
Ahhh yess it me Wiggy, the boogeyman. Boo scared you! Seek help lol
Just not the tourist. Nine years now the has used the hurricane excuse for going backwards.
@ Hmmm He is right if you can’t see that you are blind, the government is taking care of you or you don’t care.
Boy go siddon
What’s you educational level? What is your professional reputation? What do you know about economics, world events, and business?
You do good in the community like so many others but that does not make you capable of being a person who can speak to real issues. The bvi based on its size has the disadvantage of not being taken seriously from the jump. The last thing we need is a person who will embarrass the country by misspeaking on high level matters.
Handing out candy is not qualification for office. No offense.
Eggy in all can speak on the issues in this country as it’s a nasty territory we living in so what’s your point.
Parillon is a very intelligent and well spoken individual. You listen to him speak you feel inspired that a young man could speak so fluently on topics without tripping.
Rosie Smith has a bunch of intelligent children and grandchildren.
IT is a fact that for the past 20 years there has been minimal development of the BVI. The country is on autopilot with no planned development for the country. There is no short-term development goals, medium term goals or long-term goals defined with an action plan to achieve these goals.
Wiggie you couldn’t have put it any better , hope you said it to the person you are looking at in the mirror .
I see the other man as a fraudster, and a crook in every way.
He has already embarassed us in the COI, refusing to swear in a elected offical and refusing to pay back our monies! Let him go!!
I saw a group of tourist scorning Beteto Bldg. yesterday. It really is unsightly for your first glimpse of Road Town after disembarking the ship.
The island is nasty with derelict sh*t all over.
There are lots of people in the BVI that have no pride or concern for the appearance of the island. Some have property with old cars and trash in plain sight and don’t care to clean it up. Blame the people while you blaming government. LACK OF PRIDE!!!
Aaron needs to go learn to read and write
When you ain’t got nothing bad on someone you’ll make up and say anything. This makes any sense what you saying? Some of yall damn well know better but trying to create all forms of stupid narratives that makes no sense before sticking to the topic. You can look and see this is an educated man.
This place looks like a hood. Road Town is dirty and unorganized. Parillon is 100% correct and I wish the rest of us as BVISlanders would have Pride like he has and do something. Several clean ups he has held and my kids attend them for Community service hours, what has any other candidate including the district representative done? Nothing!!!!
This country is kept how some of yall look. Unhealthy and unkept.
Uncleanliness is next to unholiness
Fact check plse on the tourist mellee
