Tropical wave affecting BVI
The British Virgin Islands is currently experiencing unstable weather conditions, which is the result of a ‘weak tropical wave’ passing over or near the territory.
A May 28 weather advisory from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), said the tropical wave “could generate a few more cloudy periods with a moderate chance of showers across the islands over the next 24 hours”.
Following the 24-hour period, weather conditions are expected to be mostly cloudy with a low chance of showers, the DDM said further.
This tropical wave comes days before the start of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which is predicted to be ‘above normal’.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is forecasting a likely range of 13 to 19 named storms, six to 10 of which could become hurricanes. The forecast includes three to six major hurricanes that could be category three, four or five strength with winds of 111 miles per hour or higher.
The BVI has been experiencing heavy downpours and thunderstorm activity for the last few hours.

Just an idea government, as part of your “stimulus” package…. invest in some proper internet. A bit of rain and clouds can’t make the whole territory go on the slowest internet in the world. It’s terrible in the best days but today it’s even worse!
We know you think you can just lock down a country without any consequences but we are working from home and still try to make a living.
no everyone is watching Youtube House of Assembly to see oif they can get information before 8pm tonight
Really…. they were doing that at 8am this morning? Your comment is too dumb. Internet is crap in this territory and nobody is doing anything about it.
I don’t know why y’all come on the News sites giving the government suggestions. The have specific departments for these things. The telecommunications offices also have corporate offices you can go to to make your complaints/suggestions. The news sites are not the place because you will never see results.
IF you file a complaint at the telecommunications office you also don’t get a result. It must be the kickbacks that they get that keeps them from taking any actions….
@Funny
You won’t get the results here either. The TRC exists.
@no its doesn’t matter who on the internet watching whatever…. it’s only fair in the that we’re paying for internet and the service is so poor. Paying $189… For unlimited data plan and its crap, can’t even stream to devices and freezing and dropping. It should have to do with whoever on the internet. Druing the lockdown it works just fine…..has the lockdown up it gets worse.
The DDM is backwards. This rain/thunder/lightning is not from a tropical wave. This weather is coming in from the northwest and is likely the remnants of an old cold front. It we had decent internet the DDM could correctly forecast the weather but we don’t!
