A tropical wave is predicted to move over the area of the British Virgin Islands tonight, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has said.

This tropical wave might result in what the DDM described as unsettled weather conditions across the territory.

Forecasters predict a 40 percent or a moderate chance of showers mainly this afternoon, July 18.

DDM said there is, however, a 70 percent or a high chance of showers and a 20 percent or a slight chance of a thunderstorm tonight.

Wind speeds will range between 19 to 33 kilometres per hour while the seas are predicted to have moderate with significant wave heights of four to six feet.

“Small craft operators should be cautious especially when venturing in to open waters on the Atlantic side of the island,” the DDM said.
