A freak accident at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Pockwood Pond left two drivers hospitalised and caused significant damage to the motor vehicles they had taken for inspection.
Although the police were called to the scene, no one was arrested after the incident which reportedly occurred some time last week.
It is understood that one driver was undergoing inspection when the inspecting officer told him to put his vehicle in reverse. The driver obeyed and shortly after, another vehicle which was behind accelerated and pushed the front vehicle into a retaining wall. Both vehicles allegedly came to a halt after colliding into the wall.
An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) was reportedly called to the scene. It’s understood that the driver of the front vehicle received bruises to the head as well as cuts on his foot.
However, the driver of the second vehicle that caused the collision reportedly suffered more serious injuries. He was still being attended by the EMT when the police arrived and wasn’t in a state to give his account of the incident.
Both vehicles reportedly received significant damage from the collision.
In the meantime, the driver of the front vehicle received treatment at the hospital and was reportedly discharged the same day.
But it’s understood that the driver of the second vehicle had to remain at the hospital for a longer time as tests were ordered to determine the extent of his injuries.
BVI News hasn’t been able to determine whether he has been released from hospital or the exact cause of the collision at the DMV.
