Two RVIPF officers injured in West End car crash
Two officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) sustained injuries during a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning while responding to a report of a sudden death in the Zion Hill area.
According to the RVIPF, the marked police vehicle collided with a metal pole in the West End Police District. Both officers were injured, with one facing serious injuries and the other suffering non-life-threatening wounds. The vehicle sustained front-end damage.
While both officers were admitted to Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital (DDOSH), the officer with more severe trauma suffered a broken cervical disc, a shifted spine, and facial lacerations. He is reportedly awaiting an MRI, and arrangements are being made for his transfer to Trinidad for advanced medical care.
Acting Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool confirmed that the officers were en route to the emergency when the collision occurred.
“The injured officers are receiving the full support of the RVIPF during their recovery. Out of a need to balance transparency while maintaining investigative integrity, I am unable to give further details until the investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident is completed,” Vanterpool stated in a media release.
Vanterpool encouraged officers to remain vigilant while on duty, reminding them to ensure proper rest and to stay alert.

Fast recovery wishes to the injured.
A comedy of errors as
the norm.
Last time I looked a sudden death was not an emergency! The person has already died so it’s an administrative task that does not require a speeding vehicle.
My thoughts exactly.
So at what unnecessarily reckless speed were they trying to attend reports of a sudden death .
Thank goodness they weren’t on a call for someone on distress
Any good cop is a dead cop thank God that
One happened the only way people seem to get justice die MF
Speeding to a fender bender accident
Maybe if they work their seat belts like everybody else, it would not be so bad. What is good for the goose should be good for the gander.
World leader in lone vehicle crashes!! Maybe the roads, maybe the drivers, maybe the uninsured vehicle???
Wishing both Officers a speedy recovery.
Praying that everything works out in their best interest.
