US citizen arrested after assaulting pregnant girlfriend
BVI News understands that a 32-year-old man was recently arrested and charged for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.
The man is said to be a citizen of the US. It is understood that the couple had a disagreement and the man visited the woman’s residence and demanded entry. The woman reportedly refused but, out of fear, told him he could enter to remove his belongings from the house.
He reportedly got angry. Fearing for her life, the woman tried to leave the house to get help but she was caught by her attacker who reportedly threatened her with a stone in his hand. It’s not clear whether she was harmed during that encounter.
BVI News understands that the man later gained entry to the house where he used a belt to hit his pregnant girlfriend all over her body. Our news centre understands that the woman screamed for help during the attack. It is not clear whether anyone came to her rescue or how the assault ended.
Our news centre was also told that the woman sustained bruises from the incident.
The police eventually arrested the man. It’s not yet clear how many charges were laid against him and whether he is out on bail.
The date of his court appearance has not been ascertained.
