Vanterpool confident of District 4 comeback
Former Communications and Works Minister Mark Vanterpool has declared that he is confident he can reclaim the Fourth District seat if he returns to representational politics.
Speaking during a recent interview following the launch of his People’s Leadership Movement (PLM), Vanterpool said residents of the Fourth District were ready to support him again after his years of representation in the constituency.
When asked how difficult it would be to re-enter the district and win the seat, Vanterpool dismissed suggestions of a challenge. “I have served my people for 25 years, and they’re ready for me again. Easily,” Vanterpool stated. “They’re in here tonight.”
Pressed further on whether he believed he could secure victory, Vanterpool replied: “[I’m] very confident.”
Vanterpool represented the Fourth District for more than two decades and previously served in several ministerial roles, including as Minister for Communications and Works. He did not contest the district seat during the 2023 general election, which was won by Luce Hodge-Smith
During the interview, Vanterpool confirmed that he intends to contest the Fourth District seat rather than run as an At-Large candidate.
The former minister used the occasion to outline plans for the newly announced PLM, which he described as a “grassroots” movement rather than a traditional political party.
Vanterpool said the organisation would seek to unite supporters from across the political spectrum. He added that the BVI needed a new style of leadership and claimed the territory had suffered from stalled development and a lack of decisive action in recent years.
He further claimed that residents had repeatedly encouraged him to return to politics.
“People call for me. People ask me to come back,” he stated. “I have answered the call.”
The former legislator noted that the movement would spend the coming months engaging residents throughout the territory before deciding whether to formally transition into a political party ahead of the next general election.

what i understood is that all those vying for all the positions were up close and present counting the ballots as they were removed from the box. How was it rigged. They were absent for over 3 years, he more than 3, and really expected those behind were waiting for them.
All the old people need to siddung for real. Ronnie, Mark, Kedrick, Fraser, Lorna.
But the younger ones who are in charge now are not ready for leadership. Marlon, Natalio, Mitch and Kye.
In my opinion, our best leader now is Myron. They all know it that is why they make such a great effort to keep him down.
We will see what happens this guava crop.
Sadly, the reality is that the majority is not ready for Myron either, but if they take Mark might as well take Myron because at least he born here
I believe Mark Vanterpool can get his district back yes. As much as some may not like it.
