Minister responsible for ports, Mark Vanterpool, is proposing that the multimillion-dollar Tortola Cruise Pier be named in honour of former Chief Minister, Cyril B Romney.
Vanterpool made the proposition on Friday while describing the late legislator as “the father of the cruise ship business” in the BVI.
“I want to really thank him and his family because the family continues to be a major part and play a major role in the success of the cruise ship business in the territory. It represents so many of the companies and do such a good job with the tours and give so many good suggestions as we go along,” Vanterpool said.
Vanterpool said he hopes to officially put his proposal to the House by the next sitting.
“I want to ask members’ support on it and see that we can bring that forward and name that cruise pier the Cyril B Romney Tortola Cruise Pier,” said Vanterpool who described his proposal as being “very bold”.
