Vanterpool responds: My record speaks for itself
Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool has expressed gratitude and resolve following her return to her substantive position as Deputy Commissioner of Police within the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
In a public statement, Vanterpool confirmed that she has been “reverted” to her substantive role after more than a year in the acting position. She stated she served with “dedication and a strong sense of duty”, even during times when there were no deputies or assistant commissioners in place.
“It is unfortunate that the decision has been taken for me to step back from the role,” she stated, adding that she remains confident in her leadership abilities. “My record over the past year speaks clearly for itself. The achievements are well documented, and the improvements within the Force, in operations, crime reduction efforts, community engagement, and professionalism, are already being seen and felt,” Vanterpool said.
She thanked both her colleagues and the wider Virgin Islands community for their encouragement, saying that the support she received “has meant more to me than words can express” and reminded her of the trust placed in her leadership.
Vanterpool reaffirmed her commitment to the people of the territory, pledging to “uphold the highest standards of policing, to support the men and women of the RVIPF, and to serve the Virgin Islands with integrity, pride, and respect”.
Her removal from the top post comes amid ongoing discussion about leadership changes within the Force. Governor Daniel Pruce recently announced that he intended to appoint a new Acting Commissioner, citing the need for stability and experience in leading law enforcement.
The decision has prompted widespread public debate and a week-long protest in Road Town. Elected officials and prominent members have also expressed concern to the public.
Vanterpool, who became the first woman to act as Commissioner of Police in the Virgin Islands, oversaw several initiatives aimed at improving community relations and tackling serious crime.
Her statement concluded with an expression of faith and patriotism: “Thank you and may God continue to guide and protect the Virgin Islands.”

There were two substantive Deputy Commissioners of Police. Was any consideration ever given to rotating the Acting Commissioner appointment between them? What machinations precluded the other substantive Deputy Commissioner from having an opportunity to act as well? GOD don’t wear short pants like man.
@Channel 11:
Good question; ask Jackie. Guv did what was in the best interest of the entire RVIPF. Not a select few.
Seems this has united Sindee and the Preggo Wig wearing Frog from Hog City as they both on the same side of this coin.
No family member of mine will march for Jackie. She’s not a nice person neither is she a people’s person. I am not putting my head in the block for anyone but God. Few years ago look where we his place end up in the worldwide news with a premier drug lord and two accomplice. There is more to be said and all you will find out sooner or later. Jackie not nice and she might be ok officer getting all the entitled medals but the man say she ain’t competent and she just ain’t talking.
… If people really knew how low minded Jackie is they would not take her seriously.
