VG father charged after fighting his daughter

The Virgin Gorda Police Station

BVI News understands that a father from Virgin Gorda was recently arrested and charged after a physical altercation with his daughter.

Our news centre has not been able to confirm the daughter’s age, but it is understood that the police were summoned to their house while the two were observed fighting each other.

Reports are that the daughter received injuries to her head and face during the fight and had to seek medical attention. Our sources also say one of her eyes was swollen shut after the altercation with her father.

It’s understood that the father used household items to beat his daughter but it’s unclear what items were used. It’s also unclear whether the daughter used weapons during the altercation or whether the father sustained any injuries.

It’s also reported that the fight started because the father felt that his daughter was being disrespectful and refused to comply with his instructions.

In the meantime, it’s unclear when the father will appear in court to answer to the charges.

Child/Adult better you walk or run away. It is not good at all to raise your hand to hit or curse your parents. Honour your mother and father and your days shall be long, the bible says. Don’t bring curse on yourself.

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

I’m a parent and grandparent, not all parents are honorable. It would be nice if we would wait to hear the whole story before jumping to conclusions. In any event no parent should beat a child and leave the kind of bruises reported. I wouldn’t blame her if she never spoke to him again. As a matter of fact I hope she doesn’t. Nobody deserves to be best like tgat

I don’t like the idea of beating children. I’ve smacked my kids when they were small but to get a belt and beat no! I also do not like disrespectful children. Thankfully I had no problems with mine. But in all of that if a child ever disrespected me and come to fight then the police will come for me for sure!

Parents indulge their children at a very young age to get away with all sorts of disrespectful behavior and when they reach teens they try to reel them in . At that time it is too late . Train dem when they are toddlers , as they get older , set boundaries do not allow internet and phone to train them .
When one parent tries to discipline don’t critize support.
Some parents allow their High Schoolers to do what they like , walk in with boyfriends or girlfriends in bedrooms , leave their home and come home anytime then they say we live in modern times .
When things get out of hand they blame the young people . Parents need to set example for their children . That does not justify rudeness and disrespect. Parents have dropped the ball

Father can’t fight daughter, Father raised, care, provide and protect his daughter, but daughter become indiscipline, rebellious and disrespectful and fights a father that try to discipline her and now father is in a defensive mood and end up on the wrong end…Not a look for society..Bad message sent to other children..

Understood the ‘child’ is an adult.
That changes the dynamic. Father is wrong in this case. Parents should not provoke children to wrath but children are supposed to honor their parents. Hope they can forgive and move on.

I think you got it right but there is another element you left out ( drugs ) yep , it has infiltrated the country the youths are exposed to it either intentionally or unintentionally it can be slipped into drinks / food / candies etc those scooters fanatics is a typical example , youths passing things over the school wall ,school girl who should be in school , are on the back of scooters going elsewhere ? so these are some of the side effects / more to come , and it could get worse / hopefully not ?

If you as a parent speak to or have to Discipline Your child and the police has to get involved and charge you the parent how can this country be any better if you discipline your child you are being charged and considered an abusive parent and if you don’t discipline your child and your child gets in trouble the community and police alike looks at you as a bad parent who doesn’t train your kids the right way. What the hell do they expect from us parents.
