VG is one of the world’s top destinations — Forbes Magazine

The British Virgin Islands has yet another reason to be proud of its tourism product as Virgin Gorda was recently named among the top 10 destinations in the world.

The honour was bestowed by the prestigious Forbes Magazine, which placed Virgin Gorda at number eight on the list of top destinations to visit in 2023. Virgin Gorda is the only Caribbean Island to make this prestigious list.

In its article, “Here They Are: The 23 Best Places To Travel In 2023”, Forbes described Virgin Gorda as “a destination of clear calm waters that offers first-class snorkelling”.

Virgin Gorda is a sought-after vacation spot for couples, families, snorkelers, and beach bums. Visitors are also intrigued by The Baths with its huge boulders and pristine turquoise waters.

“The 23 Best Places to Travel In 2023” list is created based on recommendations by top travel advisors. One advisor explains, “The best way to explore has always been by boat, but with the reopening of the fully renovated Rosewood Little Dix Bay, staying on land is just as magical”.

It is no wonder that Virgin Gorda has been crowned the top choice in several publications in recent months.

The BVI’s Director of Tourism, Clive McCoy stated: “Virgin Gorda gaining the eighth spot as the top destination in the world, and the only Caribbean destination of mention, is an accolade we are genuinely proud of. This reflects the hard work of our industry partners, stakeholders, and the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and Film Commission.”

McCoy said he remains optimistic about the future of travel to the BVI. He highlighted that there are several upcoming press and familiarization trips that are positioned to boost arrivals.

“These immersive experiences will give press, influencers, travel advisors, and trade partners an intimate knowledge of the destination’s offerings.”

That may be, and happily so. Sadly however, on the village level where the mentality exist, VG is now equivalent to a septic tank. This mental degeneration has taken place and been witnessed in just sixty years. Themain cause is the kind, class, quality type of immigration being entered and the level of intellect, moral ethical marrow being brought in.

Simply put, VG is lost forever, in spirit, soul culture.

It used to be. It’s changed drastically since Irma.

The Forbes Report gives some hope that after all, there might be something to save of what is rapidly slipping away of our exceptionally beautiful island. Natural Beauty is only one part of the equation.
To really put the disosure to the test, sit down at Spanish Town Cafe or The Bamboo to have lunch. You will several times have to discontinue the conversation or business lunch discussion you are having because of the loud noise generated by Motor cycles running back and forth by riders, often riding without protective gear, the noise coming from 20-yard trucks operating on the roads withut engine covers, designed to lessen the noise. You will also be interrupted by the loud noise made by back-firing trucks and by drivers who just don’t care assuming that noisy trucks equate to professionalism in good, responsible drivig. Traffic policemen are hardly seen on the road leaving the traffic open to abuse.
Take the drive to the Copper Mine. You will be lucky if you can drive to the Mine and back without your vehicle falling apart from the condition of the rugged falling apart road. Considering that the island is a mere 8 square mile, the often unsightly pile up of garbage in over-filled bins would be an easy fix. Not so.

    Wow that sounds so terrible
Instead of complaining why don’t you try and fix the problem VG people are proud these problems can be dealt with.
